AN ORDINANCE AMENDING paragraph (L0) of Section 41-5-11,
Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating
to bond conditions for street excavations.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION 1. That paragraph (10) of Section 41-5-11, Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to bond
conditions for street excavations, be, and the same hereby is,
amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 41-5-11. Conditions of bond.* * *

"(10) . Clear, firis,natural sand will be required
for all backfill unless otherwise specified by the
City Engineer. Backfill shall be in horizontal layers
not to exceed eight inches in depth, moistened and
thoroughly tamped or compacted. If the material ex-
cavated is acceptable for backfill, then the following
will apply: Fine material, free from lumps and stone,
selected from the spoil shall be thoroughly compacted
around and under the pipe to one foot above the top of
the pipe. Above this level, backfill shall be placed
in eight-inch layers thoroughly moistened and mechani-
cally tamped to a compacted density condition not less
than that existing prior to excavation."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners
it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabi-
tants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective
immediately.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
first publication.

Utah, this 4th day of May, 1972.
