AN ORDINANCE GRANTING PERMISSION TO THE SAN PEDRO, LOS ANGELES
& SALT LAKE RAILROAD COMPANY, ITS SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS, TO CROSS
CERTAIN STREETS AND ALLEYS OF THE CITY OP SALT LAKE.

WHEREAS the San Pedro, Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad
Company, for the purpose of securing access for its trai'nv, to the
new passenger terminals to he constructed between Third and Fourth
West streets at the intersection of South Temple Street in the city
of Salt Lake, is about to construct a line of single track railroad
from a point on its railroad as now maintained and operated near the
western limits of the city of Salt Lake and at the station known as
Buena Vista, located in the addition to the City of Salt Lake known
as Buena Vista Subdivision; thence easterly upon and along Cleve-
land Avenue in said Buena Vista Subdivision, thence easterly to the
west bank of Jordan River, and upon the line indicated in yellow
upon the map or blue print hereto attached, marked "Exhibit A",
hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the said San Pedro, Los Angeles & Salt Lake
Railroad Company has purchased or is intending to acquire the lands
abutting upon both sides of the line herein described and referred
to upon the map herewith presented;
NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the premises, he it
ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, State of Utah, as
follows:
SECTION I.
That the said San Pedro, Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad
Company, its lessees, successors and assigns, have the authority
and consent of the City Council, and permission is hereby granted
it to construct, maintain and operate a standard guage railroad.
track in, upon and along Cleveland Avenue, beginning at a point
of connection with its present tracks where the same crosses said
Cleveland Avenue and thence in a southeasterly direction to a point
at or near the corner of Cleveland Avenue and Butte Street in said

Buena Vusta Subdivision, and more particularly shown on map or
blue print.
SECTION II.
That the said San Pedro, Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad
Company, its lessees, successors and assigns, have the authority
and consent of the City Council, and permission is hereby granted
it, to construct, maintain and operate a standard guage railroad
track in, upon and along Park Avenue in C. S. Desky's Subdivision
to the City of Salt Lake;
SECTION II1.
That the said San Pedro, Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad
Company, its lessees, successors and assigns, have the authority
and consent of the City Council, and permission is hereby granted
it, to cross at grade with its necessary tracks in carrying out the
construction and operation of the line of road herein described,
substantially as shown on the map herewith presented, the following
streets and alleys, towit:
lst. Cleveland Avenue in Buena Vista Subdivision;
2nd. Butte Street N N N N
3rd. Ontario " It " " "
4th. Atchison " " " "
5th. All alleys in Blocks 3, 2 "and 1 of said Buena Vista
Subdivision;
6th. The street on unplatted land known as Indiana Avenue and
its extension known as County Road No. 49;
7th. Michigan Avenue;
8th. Third Street, being a street west of let Burlington
Addition;
9th. Cheyenne Street, in let Burlington Addition;
10th. Pueblo Street, " "
llth. Navajo Street, ' " "
12th. Laramie Street " "
13th. All alleys through Blocks 4, 5 and 6 in 1st Burlington
Addition, to the west line of C. S. Desky's Subdivision;
14th. Curtis Street in Glendale Addition;

15th. Glendale Street in Glendale Addition;
16th. River Street in Glendale Addition.
SECTION IV.
The rights, privileges and franchises hereby granted and
confirmed are for the term of one hundred years from and after the
passage of this ordinance, and are granted upon the following
conditions, viz:
(1) That all of said railway tracks shall be laid upon and
conform to the established grade of the several streets over and
upon which they may be laid, and if such grade is afterward changed
by order of the City Council, the said, grantee shall at its cm
expense change the said track so as to conform to the same.
(2) The said grantee shall, wherever the said tracks are
crossed by streets and alleys, make and maintain such reasonable
crossings as shall enable the traveling public to cross over the
• rails of such track and shall make and maintain such other crossings
of said track as shall from time to time be required by the City
Council.
(3) The said grantee, its lessees, successors and assigns
shall lay and maintain sufficient boxes or pipes to convey all the
water required to flow along the said streets crossed by said
railway tracks, the same to be Of such dimensions as will permit
the free passage of all water ordinarily flowing in or along such
streets, and said grantee, its lessees, successors and assigns
shall during the life of this franchise maintain and keep said boxes
or pipes in repair.
SECTION V.
This ordinance shall take effect from and after approval.
