Scheid I ie F Wells = v, Mr.Chairman I—I- Result AN ORDINANCE An ordinance relating to the proceedings to be taken and acts performed by pity officers in connection with the proceedings to the establish lighting districts and levy and collection of taxes in connection therewith. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. Upon the receipt by the City Recorder of the plans and assessment list from the City Engineer, as provided in Section 2 of Chapter 96 of the Laws of Utah, 1915, and within three days after the first publication of the notice of the passage of the resolution for the proposed improvement, as provided in Section 4 of said chapter, the City Recorder shall mail, post paid, to each and of the property owners mentioned in said assessment list plat and copy of said notice addressed to the last known residence of such property owner. SECTION 2. Immediately upon the passage of the ordinance levying the assessment, as provided in Section 7 of Chapter 96 of the Laws of Utah, 1915, the City Recorder shall deliver to the City Treasurer a certified copy of said ordinance, and also the original or a copy of the plats and assessment list filed with the Engineer's report, as provided in Section 2 of said chapter. -1- SECTION 3. Not more than five days after the receipt by him of the certified copy of the ordinance levying the assessment, and the plats and assessment lists mentioned in Section 2 of this ordinance, the City Treasurer shall oause to be deposited in the mail, post paid, and addressed to the several owners of the property affected by the levy, as they may appear upon said plats and assessment lists, at their last known post office address, a personal notice substantially in the following form: SPECIAL. TAX NOTICE. Office of the City Treasurer and Collector of taxes, Room No. 105 City do County Building. Salt Lake City, Utah, , 19• Mr. Your special tax on the within described property, for the purpose of (here briefly state the object of the tax or assessment) is $ payable in three installments as follows: $ thirty days from (the date when the ordinanoe levying the assessment becomes effective) ; $ in one year from said date; and $ two years from said date. Said tax is levied by ordinance of the Board of Commis- sioners of Salt Lake City, and affects the following real property standing on the records of Salt Lake County in your name. t Qom; Interest on the whole sum unpaid at the rate of six per Dent per annum, payable annually; the Whole tax or one or more install- ments thereof, may be paid without interest within thirty days after . Unless default has been made -2- in the payment of any installment of such tax, one or more install- ments in the order in which they are made payable, or the whole special tax, may be paid on the day any installment becomes due, by paying the amount thereof and interest to date of payment. Default in the payment of any auoh installment, whether of principal or interest, when due, shall cause the whole of the unpaid principal to become due and payable immediately, and the whole amount of the unpaid principal and aoorued interest shall thereafter draw interest at the rate of eight per cent per annum until date of sale; but at any time prior to the day of sale, the amount of all unpaid install- ments then due, with interest at the rate of eight per Dent per annum, and all accrued costs, may be paid, and thereafter the right to pay any installment shall exist in the same manner as if default had not been made. SECTION 4. When real estate is sold for taxes as provided in Section 9 of Chapter 96 of the Laws of Utah, 1915, the Treasurer shall make out, sign acknowledge and deliver to the purchaser a certificate of sale which shall reoite the facts of sale as in the Tax Sal* Record, and that payment has been made therefor, and shall be substantially in the following form: ®ERTIFICATE OF SALE FOR SPECIAL TAX. This certifies that on the day of 19 , in pursuanoe of law and ordinance, I, as City Treasurer and ex officio colleotor of special taxes for Salt Lake City, Utah, sold to , subject to redemption, as provided by law, the following property in Salt Lake City, for delinquent special taxes assessed against said property in the name of , to-wit: -3- 3 l }T,� j M ••A , , i0., Payment has been made therefor by said Dated this day of , 19 City Treasurer and Ex officio Collector of Special Taxes of Salt Lake City. (L.eknowledgment in statutory form.) SECTION 5. The Treasurer shall collect a fee of two dollars for each certificate issued, which fee shall be covered into the city treasury. SECTION 6. The City Treasurer shall when any property is redeemed, as provided in Section 9 of Chapter 96 of the Laws of Utah, 1915, make the proper entry in the Tax Sale Record filed in his office, and issue a certificate of redemption, which oertifioate shall be by him acknowledged, as required by law, for which certif- icate the Treasurer shall be entitled to receive the sum of fifty Dents, which amount shall be covered into the pity treasury. SECTION 7. If the property sold by the Treasurer as herein provided, shall not have been redeemed within the period mentioned in Seotion 9 of Chapter 96 of the Laws of Utah, 1915, the City Reoorder shall issue a tax deed for said property, as provided in Section 10 of Chapter 96 of the Laws of Utah, 1915, for eaoi of which deeds the City Recorder shall be entitled to receive and collect two dollars for the first description of property contained therein, and one dollar for each additional description of property contained therein, which sums so received shall be by said City Recorder covered into the city treasury of Salt Lake City.
