AN ORDINANCE.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2901 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt
Lake City, Utah, 1944, as amended by ordinances passed by the Board of Commissioners
of Salt Lake City, Utah, relating to the Fire Department.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 2901 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City,
Utah, 1944, as amended by ordinances passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Utah, on July 22, 1944; July 3, 1945; February 7, 1946; January 28, 1947;
November 12, 1947; December 15,. 1948; May 10, 1949; January 10, 1950; July 11, 1950;
August 8, 1950; April 3, 1951; June 6, 1951; March 18, 1952 and May 16, 1953 relating
to the Fire Department be and the same is hereby further amended to read as follows:
"SECTION 2901. ORGANIZATION AND SALARIES. The Fire Department of Salt Lake
City shall consist of the following officers and employees and no others who, except
the Chief, shall be appointed by the appointing power subject to the approval of the
Board of City Commissioners from the certified list of the Civil Service Commission
of Salt Lake City for each such office or position to be filled, and the annual
salaries for each such officer or employee shall be fixed by the Board of City Com-
missioners at not more than the amount hereinafter set forth, to-wit:
Per Annum
Chief of Department, who shall be head of the Fire Department
and the appointing power $6,720.00
c., 4 Assistant Chiefs 5,400.00
Battalion Chiefs 4,980.00
1 Superintendent of Fire and Police Alarms 4,980.00
Captains - 4,620.00
Lieutenants . . 4,308.00
Firemen:
1st Grade 4,116.00
2nd Grade 3,924.00
3rd Grade • 3,744.00
4th Grade 3,552.00
5th Grade . . 3,432.00
6th Grade .s 3,300.00
Electrician:
lst Grade 4,152.00
2nd Grade 3,960.00
Female Alarm Operators 3,000.00

In addition to the salaries hereinabove provided for each officer and
employee, except the Chief, in the Fire Department as above set forth shall be
paid the sun of $15.00 per month as a uniform allowance.
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners, it is necessary
to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance
shall become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first publication.
