An ordinance emending Chapter 38 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City of 1913, by changing the title of said chapter from
Parks and Public Grounds to Parks and Public Property, and by
inserting after said. title eight new sections in said chapter, to
be known as Sections 918x, 918x1, &c, creating the offices of
Superintendent of Park , and Public Property and Custodian of that
part of the Joint City and County Building owned and controlled by
Salt Lake City, and providing how said officers shell be appointed
prescribing the duties, and .for the employment of employees con-
nected with the public parks and said building.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the title of Chapter 38 of the Revised
Ordinances of S It Lake City of 1913 be changed so that the same
shall read "Parks and Public Property", instead of "Parks end
Public Grounds".
SECTION 2. That eight new sections ba inserted after the
title to Chapter 38 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City of
1913, to be known as Sections 918x, 918x1, 918x2, 918x3, 918x4,
918x5, 918x6 and 918x7, which sections shall read as follows:
SECTION 918x. There is hereby created the office of
Superintendent of Parka and Public Property and the office of
Custodian of that part of the Joint City and County Building
in. Salt Lake City owned. end controlled by said city, both of
which officers end their departments shall be under the oharg:
of, and all employees therein shall be under the general
supervision of the Commissioner of Parks and Public Property.
SECTION 918x1. The Board of Commissioners of SElt Lake
City may appoint a. competent and experienced landscape
gardener Superintendent of Parks and Public Property, at a
salary of eighteen hundred dollars per year, to be paid
monthly, as are the salaries of other city officers.

SECTION 918x2. The Superintendent of Perks and Public
Property shall, before he enters upon the duties of his
office, take end subscribe the constitutional oath of office,
and execute a bond with good and sufficient sureties, to be
approved by the Board of Commissioners, payable to Salt Lake
City, in the penal sum of two thousand dollars, conditioned
for the faithful performance of the duties of his office, and
the payment of all moneys received by him as such officer,
according to law and the ordinances of the city.
SECTION 918x3. It shall be the duty of the Superintend-
ent of Per':ce and Public Property to supervise the work of the
care, maintenance, improvement end beautifying of all parks
and public property in Salt Lake City, not under the control,
care and supervision of some other department of the city.
SECTION 918x4. The Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City may employ the following attendants, clerks and employee,:
in the department of Parks and Public Property, to-wit:
One Custodian at Liberty Park at a salary of one thousan•
dollars per year;
One Florist at a salary of twelve hundred dollars per
year;
One Construction Foreman at e salary of twelve hundred
dollars per year;
One clerk at a salary of eight hundred and forty dollars
per year;
One clerk at a salary of seven hundred and eighty dolla s
per year, and such numbers of supervisors of play grounds,
and at such salaries, and for such term, as said Board shall
determine. Said Board may also employ such other employees,
and laborers, and furnish and provide such equipment as may
be necessary for the proper care, maintenance, improvement
and beautifying such perks and public property. •

SECTION 918x5. The Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City may appoint a competent and suitable person Custodian of
that part of the Joint City and County Building owned and
controlled by said city, at a salary of nine hundred and sixt
dollars per year, to be paid monthly es are the salaries of
other city officers.
The Custodian of that part of the Joint City and County
Building owned end controlled by S alt L eke City shall, befo -
he enters upon the duties of his office, take and subscribe
the constitutional oath of office, and execute a bond with
good and sufficient sureties, to be approved. by.the Board of
Commissioners, payable to Salt Lake City, in the penal sum
of one thousand dollars, conditioned. for the faithful per-
formance of the duties of his office, and the payment of all
moneys received by him as such officer, according to law and
the ordinances of the city.
SECTION 918x5. It shall be the duty of said Custodian
of said building to supervise the work of the care and main-
tenance of that part of the Joint City end County Building
in Salt Lake City owned and controlled by said city, end of
the offices, apartments end rooms thereof.
SECTION 918x7. The Board of Commissioners may employ
the following employees in that part of Chid Joint City and
County Building coned or controlled by Salt Lake City, to-wit:
One elevator operator at sixty dollars per month; five
janitors at sixty dollars per month each, and such other
employees, and at such wages as srid Board shall deem neces-
sary to the proper care and maintenance of said building;
and in connection with Salt Lake County, employ one night
watchman for the inside of said building, one night watchman
for the outside of said building and the grounds surrounding

the same; time engineer and one assistant engineer; and such
number of firemen as said Board end said County may determine,
and pay said employees such wages as shall be agreed upon by
said Board and said Salt Lake County.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
