An ordinanoe levying a tax and for the assessment of property
on the south side of South Temple Street between West Temple and
Main Streets; on both sides of South Temple Street between Main and
State Streets; on both sides of State Street between South Temple
and Fourth South Streets; on both sides of First South Street
between West Temple and Second East Streets; on both sides of
Second South Street between West Temple and Second East Streets; on
both sides of Third South Street between West Temple and Second
East Streets; and on both sides of Fourth South Street between Best
Temple and Main Streets, for the purpose of furnishing, installing,
operating, maintaining and patrolling for a period of three years,
seven four-ampere series luminous aro lamps on each side of each
block in said district, including all wiring, brackets, incidentals
and electrical energy in Lighting District No. 1, of Salt Lake
City.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City
does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the
same upon the property hereinafter described in Lighting District
No. 1 of Salt Lake City, for the purpose of providing for the
furnishing, installing, operating, maintaining and patrolling for

a period of three years, seven four-ampere series luminous arc
lamps on each side of each block in said district, including all
wiring, brackets, incidentals and electrical energy in said
district, to-wit;
In Lots 5, 6, 7 and 8, Block 40; 1, 2, 5 and 6, Block 51; 1,
5, 6, 7 and 8, Block 52; 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, Block 53; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
6, 7 and 8, Block 56; 1, 2, 5, 6, 7 and 8, Block 57; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
6, 7 and 8, Blook 58; 1, 2, 5 and 6, Block 69; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
and 8, Block 70; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, Block 71; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and

This tax is levied to defray the expense of furnishing,
installing, operating, maintaining and patrolling for a period of
three years, seven four-ampere series luminous arc i*aiLt lamps on
each side of each block in said district, including all wiring,
brackets, incidentals and electrical energy in said district, and
it is hereby adjudged, determined and established that the propert,
hereinbefore and hereinafter described will be and especially
benefite.

parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal and uniform rate
in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon said portions of
said streets, lots and blocks fronting upon and to a depth of
twenty-five (25) feet back therefrom, and the tax hereby levied
and to be assessed upon said parcels of land is $84;4692 twenty-
four thousand four hundred eighty-nine aNexI003 ($24,489.00)
dollars, or one and 25/100 ($1.26) dollars per front or linear
foot of abutting property, which is the total cost and cost per
front foot of the abutters' portion of said improvement, aocordin;
to the contract entered into for the performance of said work and

SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in equal
annual installments, the first of which shall become delinquent in
thirty days after this ordinance becomes effective, and the second

in one year from said date, and the third in two years from said
date, with interest on the whole sum unpaid at the rate of six per
Dent per annum, payable annually; the whole tax or one or more
installments thereof, may be paid without interest within thirty
days after this ordinance becomes effective. Unless default is
made in the payment of any installment of such tax, one or more
installments in the order in which they are made payable, or the
whole special tax, may be paid on the day any installment beoomes
due, by paying the amount thereof and interest to date of payment.
Default in the payment of any such installment, whether of princip-1
or interest, when due, shall cause the whole of the unpaid princip=l
to become due and payable immediately, and the whole amount of the
unpaid principal and accrued interest shall thereafter draw intere t
at the rate of eight per cent per annum until the day of sale; but
at any time prior to the day of sale, the amount of all unpaid in-
stallments then due, with interest at the rate of eight per cent
per annum and all accrued tialimmt costs may be paid, and there-
after the right to pay any installment shall exist in the same
manner as if default had not been made.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect one day after
its first publication.
