Burton Fehr Finch Lake Mr.Chairman - AN ORDINANCE Result AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A TAX and for the assessment of pro- perty in Lighting District No. 17-A, for the purpose of providing for the operation, maintenance and patrolling of incandescent lamps and the furnishing of electrical energy therefor. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION I. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same upon the property hereinafter described in lighting district No. 17-A, for the purpose of providing for the operation, maintenance and patrol- 7 ling of incandescent lamps and the furnishing of electrical energy therefor, to-wit: Lots 1 to 58 incl., Upper Yale Add. of Blk. 28; Lots 30 to 58 incl. of Blk. I and Lots 1 to 29 incl. of Blk. 2, Yalecrest Park, a sub. of Blk. 28; and Lots 1 to 30 incl., Upper Yale 2nd Add. of Blk. 28; 5-Acre Plat C, Big Field Sur- vey; abutting on Herbert, Yale and Yalecrest Avenues from 17th to 18th East Streets, in Salt Lake City. Dhis' tax is levied to defray the expense of providing for the operation, maintenance and patrolling of incandescent lamps (said lamps to be twenty-eight (28) in number, each standard to carry one 200 watt incandescent lamp), said lamps to be illuminated by electric current, and the furnishing of electrical energy for the same on the 47 -2- all-night schedule for a period of ten years from Oct. 24, 1930, to Oct. 24, 1940, and the portions of said streets opposite the pr.- perty hereinbefore and hereinafter described to be especially af- fected and benefited by said improvement, and it is hereby adjudge., determined and established that said property will be especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon and to the e -- tire depth of the same ownership back therefrom not exceeding 330 feet, and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon said parce s of land is Six Thousand Three Hundred Fifty-seven and 12/100 ($6,357.12) Dollars of One and 449174/1000000 ($1.449174) Dollars per front or linear foot of abutting property, there being 4386.72 feet abutting said portion of said improvement and the cost of whi«i operation, maintenance, patrolling and furnishing of electrical energy and the property benefited thereby is hereinafter set out, and all within the boundaries of the lots, blocks and streets abov- mentioned in said district, which is the total abutters' cost and cost per front foot of said improvement according to the contract entered into for the performance of said work and making said im- provement with Utah Power & Light Company, dated the 24th day of October, 1930, said levy to date and be affective from Oct. 24, 193s, which is the date service began, and the City Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to assess in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance, for the purpose herein mentioned: FRONTINGON TALE AVENUE. That the assessment list made by the City Treasurer, as corrected, approved and completed by the Board of Equalization and Review of the property described in Section I of this ordinance in Lighting District No. 17-A of Salt Lake City, for the purpose of providing for the operation, maintenance and pa trolling of incandescent lamps, is hereby cpnfirmed and the asses^- ments made and returned,,;in said:completed lists and the report of the Board of Equalization andRRview to the:Boaro of Commissioners , of Salt Lake City are hereby ratified, apprQ eo. and confirmed. SECTION III. ,'Said 'tax shall be payable in'advance in ter equal yearly installments, as .provided by law and ordinance with interest at the rate of twelve per cent per annum on each installm nt not so paid; provided, however, that one or'more of such installme is in the order payable, or the whole tax may be paid without interes within fifteen (15) days from the date this ordinance becomes of fective, and any such payments within said fifteen (15) days also will be allowed a discount of three per cent (3%). In the event any installment aforesaid is not paid on the day the same becomes due, the whole amount of the special tax unpaid at the time said installment is due, shall become due and payable and shall draw in terest at the rate of twelve per cent per annum until the sale of the property assessed.
