AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Sec. 5-1-20 of the Revised Ordinance of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, as contained in Section 202(b) of the
Uniform Building Code, 1973 Edition, relating to delegation of
inspection duties.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 5-1-20 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, as contained in Section 202(b) of the
Uniform Building Code, 1973 Edition, adopted by Section 5-1-1 of
this chapter, relating to delegation of inspection duties, is
amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 202(b) . Deputies. In accordance with the procedure
and with the approval of the chief appointing authority of
the municipality, the Building Official may appoint such
number of officers, inspectors and assistants, and other
employees as shall be authorized from time to time. He may
deputize such employees as may be necessary to carry out
the functions of the Building Department.
"The Building Official shall have the authority to delegate
all or part of his duties of inspection to any agency of the
governing body of any city or county outside of Salt Lake
County which enforces laws or ordinances governing the con-
struction of buildings."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners it is
necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants of Salt
Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
