AN ORDNANCE AMENDING Section 5 of Part III of Chapter 2 of
Title 2, of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955,
as enacted by Bill No. 57 of 1960, relating to thth flight of air-
craft within the limits of Salt Lake City.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION I . That Section 5 of Part III of Chapter 2, of Title`
2, of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955,` as enacted
by Bill No. 57 of 1960, relating to the flight of aircraft within the
limits of Salt Lake City be, and the same hereby Is, amended to read
as follows:
"Part Iil . -- GENERAL FLIGHT REGULATIONS

"Section 5. Minimum Altitude Over Salt Lake City. (a) It
shall be unlawful to operate a fixed wingg aircraft over the
residential or business areas of the City at an altitude of
less than two thousand (2,000) feet above the ground, without
having first obtained permission from the Commission in writing.
"(b) It shall be unlawful to operate a rotary-wing aircraft
over the residential or business areas of the City at an alti-
tude of less than one thousand (1,000) feet above the ground
without having first obtained permission from the Commission
in writing.
"(c) Helicopter pilots may deviate from the prescribed
minimum flight altitude for the purpose of landing and taking
off from such Heliports and helicopter emergency landing fields
as may be licensed by the Commission or approved from time to
time in writing by the Commission.
"(d) For the purpose of this section the term "rotary-wing
aircraft" shall mean aircraft which derive lift through
rotating airfoils and the term ''helicopter" shall mean an
aircraft which derives propulsion and lift through power
driven rotating airfoils."
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 24th day of January 1962.
