AN ORDINANCE
Result - - -
AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A TAX and for the assessment of
property in Lighting District No. 13, for the purpose of providing
for the installation of incandescent lamps.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Utah:
DECTION I. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of
the same upon the property hereinafter described in Lighting Dis-
trict No. 13, for the purpose of providing for the installation
of incandescent lamps, to-wit:
In Lots 20 to 24 incl. and Lot 25, of Blk. 1;
. Lots 1 to 19 incl. of Blk. 2; Lots 1 and 4 to 27 incl. of
Blk. 3; Lots 1 to 29 incl. of Blk. 4; Lots 1 to 24 incl.
of Blk. 5; Normandie Heights Sub. of Blk. 30; and Lots 4
and 19 of Blk. 30; 5-Acre Plat C, Big Field Survey, abut-
ting on Harvard Avenue from 13th to 15th East Streets,
Princeton Avenue from Laird Avenue to 15th East Street,
14th East Street from Harvard Avenue to Princeton Avenue,
Normandie Circle, and Laird Avenue from 13th East Street
to 346.33 feet east, in Salt Lake City.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of providing
for the installation of incandescent lamps (said lamps to be
forty-five (45) in number, each standard to carry one 250 candle
power incandescent lamp), said lamps to be illuminated by elec-

tric current; the circuits for the is operation of said system of
lamps to be underground, and the portions of said streets opposite
the property hereinbefore and hereinafter described to be especial}
ly affected and benefited by said improvement, and it is hereby
adjudged, determined and established that said property will be
especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby
levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal
and uniform rate in accordance with the number of square feet and

hereby levied and to be assessed upon said parcels of land is Five
Thousand Eight Hundred Ninety-nine and 61/100 ( 5,899.61) Dollars
or ;:. )1541857/100000000 ($0.01541857) Dollars per square foot of
square
abutting property, there being 420,893/feet abutting said portion
of said improvement, and the cost of which installation and the
property benefited thereby is hereinafter set out, and all within
the boundaries of the lots, blocks and streets above mentioned in
said district, which is the total abutters' cost and cost per square
foot of said improvement according to the contract entered into fog}
the performance of said work and making said improvement with the
Salt Lake Electric Supply Company, dated the 7th day of August,
1929, and the City Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to
assess in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance, for
the purpose herein mentioned:
Lots 20 to 24 incl. and the west 17.2 ft. of Lot 25
of Blk. 1, Lots 1 to 19 incl. of Blk. 2, Lots 1 and 4 tol
27 incl. of Blk. 3, Lots 1 to 29 incl. of Blk. 4, of Nor-r
Mandie Heights Sub. of Blk. 30, 5-Acre Plat A; and beg. !�
at the NE cor. of intersection of 13th East St. with
Harvard Ave., thence N. 89° 59' E. 25 ft., thence along
a curve to the left Rad. 567 ft. a distance of 100.52 ft
and to a depth of 60 ft., being a part of Lot 4, Blk. 30,
5-Acre Plat .,C; Lots 1 to 24 incl. of Plk. 5, Normandie
Heights Sub. of Blk. 30; 5-Acre Plat .C; and beg. at the,
NW cor. of intersection of 15th East Street with Prince;

ton Ave., thence S. 89° 591 W. 54.95 ft., thence along a curve to
the right Rad. 347 ft. a distance of 53.15 ft. and to a depth of
60 ft., being a part of Lot 19 of Blk. 30, 5-Acre Plat a.; Big Field
Survey; as the same are shown upon the official plats of said city
to a maximum depth of sixty feet back from said streets, and to
collect said tax.
SECTION II. That the assessment list made by the City
Treasurer, as corrected, approved and completed by the Board of
lEqualization^and Review of the . 3operty Yles0;;.bed in Section I of
this ordinance in Lighting District No. 13 of, Salt Lake City, for
the purpose of providing for the ;installatib ,o% incandescent lamps,
is hereby confirmed, and the assessments made.'.and returned in said
completed lists, and the:report the Board=70f Equalization and
Review to the Board of Commissioners of Salt take City are hereby
ratified, approved and confirmed.
SECTION III. Said tax shall be payable in three equal
yearly installments, as provided by law and ordinance with interest
on the whole sum unpaid at the rate of five per cent per annum,
payable at the time each installment is due; provided, however,
that one or more of such installments in the order payable, or the
whole tax may be paid without interest within fifteen (15) days from
the date this ordinance becomes effective. In the event any inst4lll-
ment or the interest aforesaid is not paid to the day the same be-
comes due, the whole amount of the special tax unpaid at the time
said installment and interest are due shall become due and payable �!
and shall draw interest at the rate of twelve per cent per annum un-

til the sale of the property assessed.
SECTION IV. This ordinance shall take effect ore day after
its first publication.
