AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A TAX and for the assessment of pro-
perty in Lighting District No. 13-A: S, for the purpose of provid-
ing for the operation, maintenance and patrolling of incandescent
lamps and the furnishing of electrical energy therefor.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION I. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the
same upon the property hereinafter described in lighting district
No. 13-A-S, for the purpose of providing for the operation, mainte-
nance and patrolling of incandescent lamps and the furnishing of
`5() electrical enregy therefor, to-wit:
In Lots 20 to 24 incl. and Lot 25 of Blk. 1;: Lots
1 to 19 incl. of Blk. 2; Lots 1 and 4 to 27 incl. of Blk. 3;
Lois 1 to 29 incl. of Blk. 4; Lots 1 to 24 incl. of Blk. 5;
Normandie Heights Sub. of Blk. 30; and Lots 4 and 19 of Blk.
30; 5-Acre Plat C, Big Field Survey, abutting on Harvard
Avenue from 13th to 15th East Streets, Princeton Avenue from
Laird Avenue to 15th East Street, 14th East Street from Harvard
Avenue to Princeton Avenue, Normandie Circle, and Laird Avenue
from 13th East Street to 346.33 feet east, in Salt Lake City.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of providing for
the operation, maintenance and patrolling of incandescent lamps

(said lamps to be five (5) in number, each standard to carry one
250 candle power incandescent lamp), said lamps to be illuminated.
by electric current, and the furnishing of electrical energy for
the same on the all-night schedule for a period. of nine years from
November 24, 1930, to November 24, 1939, and the portions of said
streets opposite the property hereinbefore and hereinafter des crib •
ed to be especially affected and benefited. by said improvement, an.1
it is hereby adjudged, determined and established that said proper
ty will be especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the
tax hereby levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at
an equal and uniform rate in accordance with the number of square
feet and to a maximum depth of sixty (60) feet back therefrom, and
the tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon said parcels of land
is One Thousand Five Hundred Forty-four and 40/100 ($1,544.40)
Dollars or 366934/100000000 (0.00366934) Dollars per square foot
of abutting property, there being 420,893 square feet abutting saie
portion of said improvement, and the cost of which operation, mainte-
nance, patrolling and furnishing of electrical energy and the pro-
perty benefited. thereby is hereinafter set out, and all within the
boundaries of the lots, blocks and streets above mentioned in said
district, which is the total abutterst cost and cost per square
foot of said improvement for a period of nine years according to t ,e
contract entered into for the performance of said work and making
said improvement with Utah Power & Light Cempany, dated the 24th
day of November, 1930, said levy to date and be effective from
1930, which is the date service began, and the
City treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to assess in ac-
cordance with the provisions of this ordinance for the purpose

vey;, as the same are shown upon the official plats of said. cit,
to a maximum depth of sixty feet back from said streets, and
to collect said tax.
SECTION II. That the assessment list made by the City
'reasurer, as corrected, approved. and completed by the Board. of
f.qualization and Review of the property described in Section I of
his ordinance in Lighting District No. 1.3-.A.-S of Salt Lake City,
or the purpose of providing for the operation, maintenance and pa-
rolling of incandescent lamps, is hereby confirmed, and the assess
ents made and returned in said completed lists and the report of
he Hoard of Equalization and Review to the Board of Commissioners
)f Salt Lake City are hereby ratified, approved and confirmed.
SECTION III. Said tax shall be payable in advance in
nine equal yearly installments, as provided by law and ordinance
with interest at the rate of twelve per cent per annum on each in-
stallment not so paid; provided, however, that one or more of such
installments in the order payable, or the whole tax may be paid
without interest within fifteen (15) days from the date this
ordinance becomes effective, and any such payments within said fif-
teen (15) days also will be allowed a discount of three per cent
(3%). In the event any installment aforesaid is not paid on the
day the same becomes due, the whole amount of the special tax unpai
at the time said installment is due shall become due and payable
-nd shall draw interest at the rate of twelve per cent per annum

SECTION IV. This ordinance shall take effect one day
after its first publication.
