AN ORDINANCE

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Sections 24-1-2, 25-2-2 and 25-2-5 of the
Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to the
subordinate departments assigned to the five statutory departments of
governmental administration of the city and the offices created within
the Department of Public Affairs and Finance and under the Board of
Commissioners as a whole.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 24-1-2 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to the subordinate departments
assigned to the five statutory departments of governmental admini-
stration of the city, be, and the same hereby is, amended to read
as follows:
"Sec. 24-1-2. Subordinate departments classified. The
various departments in the administration of the affairs
of Salt Lake City are hereby classified under and distributed
into and among the five statutory departments as follows,
to-wit:
(1) DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY
(a) Civil defense
(b) Fire department
(c) Health department
(d) Police department
(e) Public safety buildings
(f) Weights and measures and petroleum inspection
(2) DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS AND FINANCE
(a) Animal control
(b) City cemetery
(c) City court
(d) City recorder
(e) City treasurer
(f) Civil service
(g) Law department
(h) License department
(i) Parking meter collection
(j) Planning and zoning
(k) Purchasing agent
(3) DEPARTMENT OF STREETS AND PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS
(a) Bureau of mechanical inspection
(b) City shops and garage

(d) Parking meter maintenance
(e) Power and heating division
(f) Sewer system
(g) Streets department
(h) Traffic engineering
(i) Waste collection

"The office of the city auditor shall not be classified into
any of the five statutory departments above, but shall be respon-
sible to the board of commissioners as a committee of the whole
and shall be administered by the city auditor, subject to the
control and direction of the board of commissioners."
SECTION 2. That Section 25-2-2 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to the offices within the Depart-
ment of Public Affairs and Finance, be, and the same hereby is, amended
by adding thereto the following:
(7) Law department
(a) City attorney
(b) Assistant city attorneys."
SECTION 3. That Section 25-2-5 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to the offices created and estab-
lished under the supervision of the board of commissioners as a whole,
be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 25-2-5. General government. There is hereby created
and established under the supervision of the board of commis-
sioners as a whole, the following offices, and the board of
commissioners may appoint competent officers thereto:
"City auditor's office
(a) First deputy city auditor
(b) Second deputy city auditor."
SECTION 4. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, it is necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the
inhabitants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective
immediately.

SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 20th day of May , 1969.
