Am ordinance creating the office of Inspector of Provisions,
defining his duties and fixing his salary, and repealing ineottsist-
ent ordinances.
Ps it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lnk. City, Utah:
Section 1. The office of Inspector of Provisions for Salt
Lake City is hereby created, mad his salary is hereby fixed at ems
tivememiabliiii0MOMMSdallare per as mom a, payable monthly, as are the
salaries of ether City Officials.
Section 2. Such officer shall be appointed by the Mayor, sub-
ject to the confirmation of the City Council; and, before assuming
the duties of his office, he sisal' give a bond to the City with two
or stare sureties in the sum of one thousand (41000.00) dollars.
Section 3. The Inspector of Provisions shall perform all of
the duties usually and ordinarily required of such an official,
inoluding the inspection of dairies, slaughter houses and all other
plisses where food preduets are produced or manufaetured; and he
shall inspect any article of milk, butter, cheese, neat, fish,
Vegetables, fruit, lard, syrup, coffee, tea, flour, meal or any
ether article of food or drink made or offered, exposed or kept for
sale within the corporate limits of Salt Lake City, wherever the
same may be kept or stored, which he may suspect oS have reason to
believe to be unfit for use, impure, unhealthy, adulterated or
counterfeit. le shall perform such other duties as are or may be
prescribed or osntaaplated by ordinance, and he shall obey all
orders and resolutions of the beard of Eealth and the health Com-
missioner in relation to the inspection of provisions and all other
matters pertaining to the Realth Department of the City.
Section 4. The Inspector of Provisions shall have power, in
the performance of his official duties to take samples for analysis
and to seize, condone and destroy any article of food or drink which
upon inspection or analysis he may find to be unfit for use, impure, ,
unhealthy, adulterated or counterfeit. •

Section 5. All ordinances and parts of ordinances inconsist-
ent herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
