Result AN ORDINANCE
An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property
on the north side of California Avenue between the Jordan River and
Concord Street, on the east side of Concord Street between Illinois
and California Avenues, and on the west side of Eleventh Best Street
between Illinois and California Avenues, in Sidewalk District So.
45 (Sidewalk Extension No. 186) , for the construction of cement
sidewalks.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
STiCTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City
does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same
in Sidewalk District No. 45 (Sidewalk Extension No. 186), for the
construction of cement sidewalks, to-wit:
In Lots 8, 9 and 10, Block 8; and 7 to 12, inclusive, Block 7,
Burlington Place Addition; 1 and 19, Block 2; 1 to 36, inclusive,
Block 3; and 1 to 36, inclusive, Block 4, New England Addition, all
in Section 11, Township 1 south, Range 1 west, Salt Lake Base and
Meridian, abutting on the north side of California Avenue between
the Jordan River and Concord Street; on the east side of Concord.
Street between Illinois and California Avenues; and on the west side
of Eleventh Best Street between Illinois and California Avenues.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of constructing cement
sidewalks four (4) feet wide and four (4) inches thick, with three

and one-quarter (341 inch base and three-quarter O inch topping,
upon the portions of said streets opposite the property hereinbefore
and hereinafter described to be especially affected and benefited
by said improvement, and it is hereby adjudged, determined and
established that said property will be especially benefited there- f
by to the full amount of the tax hereby levied, and said parcels
of land are hereby assessed at an equal and uniform rate in
accordance with the linear foot frontage upon said portions of sai
streetsp fronting upon and to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet
back therefrom, and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon
said parcels of land is two thousand two hundred thirty-one and
52/100 ( 2,231.52) dollars, or 67/100 (0.67) dollars per front or
linear foot of abutting property, there being 3330.63 feet of
abutting property within the boundaries of the lots, blocks and
streets above mentioned in said district, which is the total cost
and cost per front foot of said sidewalks, according to the con-
tract entered into for the performance of said work and making
said improvement, with Parrott & Christofferson, dated the 25th
day of October, 1916, and the Treasurer is hereby authorized and
directed to assess in accordance with the provisions of this
ordinance, for the purpose herein mentioned:

The south side of Lots 9 and 10, the muck side of the west
11.47 feet of Lot 8, Block 8; the south side of Lots 7 to 12, in-
clusive, Block 7, Burlington Place Addition; the south side of Lot•
1 and 19, Block 2; the south side of Lots 1 and 19, the east side
of Lots 1 to 18, inclusive, the west side of Lots 19 to 36, in-
clusive, Blook 3; the east side of Lots 1 to 18, inclusive, the
west side of Lots 19 to 36, inclusive, Block 4, New England Addi-
tion, all in Section 11, Township 1 south, Range 1 west, Salt Lake
Base and ,:ieridian, as the same are shown upon the official plats of
said City to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back from said streets,

and to collect said tax.
SEC'TIOSt 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in five
equal yearly installments, with interest on the whole sum unpaid
at the rate of six per cent per annum, payable at the time each
installment is due, to-wit: One-fifth thereof one year after the
ordinance confirming the levy of the tax for the payment for such
improvement becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in two years
after said ordinance becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in three
years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in .
four years after said ordinance becomes effective; and one-fifth
thereof in five years after said ordinance becomes effective. One
or more of said installments, in the order in which they are pay-
able, or the whole special tax, may be paid at any time within
thirty days after the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax
becomes effective, without interest. In the event of any install-
ment or the interest aforesaid not being paid on the date the same
becomes due, the whole amount of the special tax unpaid at the
time said installment and interest are due, shall become due and
payable, and shall draw interest at the rate of eight per cent per
annum until the sale of the property assessed; provided, one or
more installments, in the order in which they are payable, or the
whole special tax unpaid_, may be paid on the day any installment
becomes due, by paying the amount thereof and interest to said
date.

SECTION 3. This ordnance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
