An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property
en the south side of Fifth South Street between Second West and
?ighth West Streets, and an the north side of Fifth South Street
between Seventh West and Eighth West Streets, in Sidewalk Distrilts
Nos. 20 and 21, for the construction of cement sidewalks.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the City Council does hereby levy the tax and
provide for the assessment of the same upon the property hereinafter
described in Lots 5, 6, 7 and 8, Block 30; Lots 5 and 6, Block 29;
Lots 5, 6, 7 and 8, Block 28, Plat "A"; Lots 5 and 6, Block 24„Plat
"C"; part of the southwest quarter of Section 1, Township 1 south,
Range 1 west, Salt Lake Base and Meridian; Lots 1 and 8, Block 2,
Lots 1 and 52, Block 2, Pitt's Subdivision of Block 23, Plat "C";
Lots 5 and 6, Block 22, Plat "C", Lets 1 to 26, inclusive, Block 1,
Coates & Corum's Subdivision of Block 27, Plat "C", Salt Lake City
Survey, abutting on the leuth side of Fifth South Street between
Second West and $ighth West Streets, and on the north side of Fifth
South Street between Seventh West and Eighth West Streets, in Side-
walk Districts Nos. 20 and 21, said property having a frontage of
4,576 feet along said street.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of constructing cement
sidewalks six (6) feet wide and four (4) inches thick upon said
portions of said street opposite tie property hereinafter described
to be especially affected and benefited by said improvement, and it
is hereby adjudged, determined and established that the same will be
especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby
levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal and
uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon said
portions of said street fronting upon and to a depth of twenty-five
(25) feet back therefrom, and ti tax hereby levied and to be as-
messed upon said parcels of land is five thousand thirty-three and

60/100 05,033.60) dollars, or one and 10/100 (41.10) dollars per
front or linear foot, which is the estimated total cost and esti-
mated cost per linear foot of said sidewalks, and the Treasurer is
hereby authorized and directed to assess in accordance with the pro-
visions of this ordinance for the purpose herein mentioned, All of
''" Lots 5,, 6, .7 and 8, Block 30; all of Lots 5 and 6, Block 29; all of
Lots 5, 6, 7 and 8, Block 28, Plat "A"; all of Lots 5 and 6, Block
24, Plat "C"; part of the Southwest quarter of Section 1, Township
1 South, Range 1 west, Salt Lake Base and Meridian; all of Lots 1
and 8, Block 2, all of Lots 1 and 52, Block 1, Pitt's Subdivision of
Bock 23; all of Lots 5 and 6, Block 22; all of Lots 1 to 26, inc-
lusive, Block 1, Coates & Corum's Subdivision of Block 27, Plat "C",
Salt Lake City Survey, as the same are shown upon the official plats
of said City to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back from said
street, and to collect said tax.
SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in six (6)
equal installments, as follows, to-wit: One-sixth thereof shall be-
come delinquent one month after the approval of this ordinance; one-
sixth thereof in one year after such approval; one-sixth thereof in
two years after such approval; one-sixth thereof in three years af-
ter such approval; one-sixth thereof in four years after such appro-
val; and one-sixth thereof in five years after such approval. Each
and every installment of said tax except the first, shall draw in-
terest at the rate of six per cent per annum from date of levy until
delinquent, and each and every installment of said tax shall bear
interest at the rate of eight per cent per annum from and aftdr its
date of delinquency.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
