AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3413 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, relating to regulations
for gas appliances.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION I. That Section 3413 of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, relating to regulations for gas
appliances, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SEC. 3413. SIZE OP VENT CONNECTION, VENT, PLUE OR
CHIMNEY'. The vent connection from the gas appliance to the
flue shall be of sufficient size to carry the products of
combustion at a rate not to exceed 5500 B.T.U. per square
inch of cross sectional area. The vent connection includes
the vent opening collar of the appliance, diverter or draft
hood, and the pipe or conduit to the flue opening. In no case
shall the vent connection be less than three inches in diameter.
The vent, Flue or chimney shall be of sufficient size
to carry the products of combustion from all appliances
connected thereto, at a rate not to exceed 5500 B.T.U. per
square inch of cross sectional area.
In no case shall any horizontal cent connection less
than four inches (4") in diameter exceed nine (9) feet In
length, and when the horizontal distance is more than nine
(9) feet the total vent connection from the appliance shall
be increased one inch in diameter for every five foot length.
In no case shall the length of any horizontal vent be more
than 15 feot long."
