AN ORDINANCE NDING TITLE 2, Chapter 16, of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to motor venicle regulations by
adding thereto a new section to be known as Section 2-16-11, relating
to coin-operated parking devices for taxicabs.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Title 2, Chapter 16, of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to motor vehicle regulations, be,
and the same hereby is, amended by adding thereto a new section 2-16-11,
relating to coin-operated parking devices for taxicabs, to read as follows:
"Sec. 2-16-11. Motor vehicle regulations. The City Traffic
Engineer shall cause to be installed a taxicab lane designated
for loading of passengers at the Salt Lake City International
Airport and shall cause to be installed at the entrance to said
lane a coin-operated automatic parking device as shall have been
approved by the Board of City Commissioners. Such meter shall be
so designated that the deposit of a coin or coins will set the
mechanism of the meter in motion, or permit the said mechanism
to be set in motion, so that it will allow taxicabs to enter the
lane designated for loading of passengers.
"No driver shall enter said lane for the purposes of loading
or soliciting passengers without depositing in the parking device
contiguous to said space such lawful coin or coins of the United
States as are required for such meter and as designated by
directions on said meter.
"No driver shall load or solicit patronage at any place within
the Salt Lake City International Airport except within the
designated passenger loading lane."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners, it is
necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants of Salt
Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
3rd day of June, 1970.
