AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A TAX and for tie assessment of
property in Liihtinp District No. 9, for the purpose of providing
for the installation of arc lamps.
Be it ordained by the board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION I. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Bake
City does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of
the same upon the property hereinafter described in Liwhtin,-g Dis-
trict No. 9, for the purpose of providing for the installation of
are lamps, to-wit:
In Lots 5 and. 6 of Blk. 69, Lots 5, 6, 7 and. 8 of
Elk. 70, Lots 1 and 2 of blk. 75 and Lots 1, 2, S and 4 of
.51.3. 76, Plat "A", Salt Lake City Survey, abutting on both
sides of lst South Street from '-lest Temple Street to State
Street in Salt Lake City.
This tax is levied to defray the the expense of providing
for the installation of arc lamps (said lamps to be eighty-four (84)
in number; fourteen (14) ornamental iron standards on each block
in said district (seven standards to be on each side of each block)
each standard to carry three inverted type ornamental 6.6 ampere
luminous arc lamps) , said lamps to be illuminated by electric cur-
rent; said standards to be approximately 110 feet apart, and to be
supplied with electric current for the illumination of the same each
night from fifteen minutes before dark until midnight, four (4)

(lamps in each block, however, to be lighted all night (the cost of
installation of the all night lamps being Two Thousand Two Hundre.

of lamps to be underground, and the portions of said street oppo-
site the property hereinbeforc and hereinafter described to be es-
pecially affected and benefited by said improvement and it is here-
by adjudged, determined and established that said property will be
especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby
levied, and said parcels of land are hereby as:,e,:;sel at en equal
and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon
and to the entire depth back therefrom and the tax hereby levied
and to be assessed upon said parcels of land is 'ineteen Thousand
;Six Hundred Two and 55/100 (. 19,602.55) Dollars or Seven and
846576/1000000 (0.846576) Dollars per front or linear foot of
abutting property, there being 2,498.23 feet abutting said portion
of said improvement and the cost of which installation and the pro-
perty benefited thereby is hereinafter set out, end oil within the
boundaries of the lots, blocks and streets above mentioned in said
district, which is the total abutters' cost and cost per front fool
of said improvement according to the contract entered into for the
performance of said work and making said improvement with Utah
Power & Liptt Company, dated the 24th day of March, 1925, and the
City Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to assess in ac-
cordance with the provisions of this ordinance, for the purpose
herein mentioned:

Lots 5, 7 and 8 of Elk. 70; the N. side of the r;. 112.0 ft. and th:
N. 2.23 ft. of Lot 6 of Elk. 70; the e. side of the E. 305.0 ft.
of Lot I and the S. side of Lot 2, of 61'k. 75; the side of Lots1
1, 3 and 4, and the S. side of the E. 99.0 ft. of Lot 2, of Blk.
76; Plat "A", Salt Luke City Survey, as the same are shown upon th
lo:f£icial plats of said city to the entire depth back from said

'streets, and to collect said tax.
SECTION II. That the assessment list made by the City
Treasurer, as corrected, approved and completed by the Board of
Equalization and Review of the property described in Section I of
this ordinance in Li,rtting District No. 9 of Salt Lake City for
the purpose of providinp for the installation of arc lamps, is
hereby confirmed, and the assessments made and returned in said
completed lists, and the report of the hoard of Equalization and
,Review to the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City are hereby
ratified, approved and confirmed.
SECTION III. Said tax shall be payable inttuee qual
yearly installments as provided by law and ordinance. In the event
any installment is not paid on the day the suite becomes due, the
whole amount of the special tax unpaid at the time said installmeni
is due, shall become due and payable, and shall draw interest at
the rate of twelve per cent per annum until the sale of the pro-
perty assessed.
SECTION IV. This ordinance shall take effect one day
after its first publication.
