Green Stewart Mr. Chairman Result AN ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE D,'frdDING SECTION 1124 of Chapter X:XIII, Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, 1920, relating to storage tanks above ground outside of any building. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION I. That Section 1124 of Chapter XXIII, Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, 1920, relating to storage tanks above ground outside of any building, be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 1124. STORAGE TANKS :.BOVE GROUND OUTSIDE OF ANY BUILDING. (Quantity over 300 gallons - any flash test.) It shall be unlawful for any person to build, main- tain or erect above ground any tank for the storage of gasoline, benzine, naphtha, distillate petroleum or any products of petroleum or hydro-carbon liquids in greater quantities than three hundred (300) gallons, without first submitting to the Chief of the- Fire Department with the application required plans of the proposed tank showing its size, capacity, construction, proposed contents, location, distance from water or railroad tracks and the location of all adjacent buildings, together with plans and specifiaa- tions for aa, rete-or reinforced concrete wall to surround said tank. And it shall be unlawful for any person to build, maintain or erect any such wall of any material other than tu..eku� mormandwor reinforced concrete. • f.4e r 11 such storage tanks shall be located a suffi- oient distance from railroad tracks, bulkheads, or water fronts of streams, lakes or ponds to allow the construction of a concrete wall not less than four (4) feet high; and plan concrete walls must be at least thirteen (13) inches thick at the top and reinforced with buttresses at every ten (10) feet. ., Plans and ,apecific&tiors for;ell walls must be ap- proved by the chief 2of the.-fire 4epartmeft. The reservoir formedby Such concrete walls must have a capacity of at least thirty (30) per cent greater than. � that of the tank, .and there shell be no opening of any kind in said walls. A11 storage tanks and walls, as mentioned in this ordinance, that do not ccmply with the provisions hereof shall be constructed so as to comply with the provisions of this ordinance within thirty days after written notice from the Chief of Fire Department given to the owner or person maintaining or controlling said tank or reservoir. SECTION 2. Any persona convicted of violating any provi- sion of this ordinance shall be punished as provided in Section 7 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, 1920. SECTION 3. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitant of salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately. SECTION 4.
