AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 5414 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, relating to chimney
and flue construction.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 5414 of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, relating to chimney and flue construc-
tion, be and the same is hereby amended by amending the sixth para-
graph thereof to read as follows:
i "In any residence of less than 1600 square feet of floor
area, the inside dimensions of the furnace flue may not be
less than llxll inches rectangular or equivalent and the
height of any masonry chimney shall not be less than 25 feet
measured from the furnace grates. Water heater flues may
not be less than 8x8 inches rectangular or equivalent. In
any residence without a basement which requires the furnace
to be installed above the ground level, the height of the
furnace flue shall not be less than 22 feet measured from
the floor line in the utility room or in room where furnace
is installed."

0-D SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners,
it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants
of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
first publication. jj
