AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Sec. 30-1-1, Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake
City, Utah, 1965, relating to organization of the Police Department by
adding thereto the position of matron clerks, and amending Sec. 30-1-2
of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, relating to salaries
of members of the Police Department, by adding thereto the salaries
of matron clerks.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION 1. That Sec. 30-1-1 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake
City, Utah, 1965, relating to organization of the Police Department, be,
and the same hereby is, amended by adding thereto Matron Clerks to work
in the jail division as follows:
"Grade 1
Grade 2
Grade 3
Grade 4
Employees presently employed who are appointed matron clerks shall serve
a three months' probationary period. After successful completion of
the probationary period a person serving as matron clerk shall be placed
in her ingrade position after receiving full credit for all ingrade time
completed. "
SECTION 2. That Sec. 30-1-2 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake
City, Utah 1965, relating to salaries, be, and the same hereby is, amended
by adding thereto matron clerks and their salaries as follows:
Grade 1 - $350.00 per month
Grade 2 - $337.00 per month
Grade 3 - $325.00 per month
Grade 4 - $312.00 per month
plus $15.00 per month uniform allowance for each grade. Upon appoint-
ment credit shall be given for ingrade advances presently held by appli-
cants presently employed in the Police Department though probationary

period is not completed."
SECTION 3. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners it is
necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of Salt
Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first publi-
cation.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
23rd day of June, 1965.

The Board of City Commissioners, at its meeting today, approved
your motion as follows:
I move that the Commission action of June 23, 1965,
approving an ordinance, BILL NO. 57 of 1965,
establishing the position of Matron Clerks under
Civil Service to work in the jail division of the
Salt Lake City Police Department and fixing the
salary schedule therefor, be rescinded, and the
City Recorder directed not to publish the ordinance.
