AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Chapter 2 of Title 32 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to offenses involving morals by adding
thereto a new section to be known as Section 32-2-12, relating to soliciting
by prostitutes and licentious advances.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Chapter 2, Title 32 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt
Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to offenses involving morals is hereby
amended by adding thereto a new section to be known as Section 32-2-12,
relating to soliciting by prostitutes and licentious advances to read as
follows:
"Sec. 32-2-12. Soliciting by prostitutes and licentious advances.
Any prostitute, courtesan or lewd woman who shall by sign, word or
action endeavor to ply her vocation upon the streets or in any public
place, or at any door or window of any house or room or who shall
endeavor by her dress, or any sign, gesture or action to induce or
prevail upon any person to enter the house or room occupied by her,
or who shall make any bold or meritorious display of herself, either
upon the public streets, or in any public place, or at any window or
doorway or at any house or room so occupied by her or in which she may
be, and any person who shall, within the corporate limits of the city,
make any insulting or licentious advance, proposition or salutation to
a person shall be guilty of a misdemeanor."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah, it is necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants
of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, on this
5th day of September, 1967.
