An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property
on Virginia Street between South Temple Street and Third Avenue, on
Second Avenue from Virginia Street to a point 275 feet east of the
east property line of Alta Street, and on Alta Street between
Second and Third Avenues, in Paving Districts 2os. 30 and 32
(Paving Extension_ No. 120 ,for the pur,:ese of providing for the
grading, curbing and guttering, constructing drainage system and
private driveways, installing w4ter services, and paving thereof.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City
does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same
a oe the property hereinafter described in Paving Districts Nos. 30
and 32 (Paving. Extension No. 128) , for the purpose of providing for
the grading, curbing and guttering, constructing drainage system
and private driveways, installing water services, and paving
thereof, to-wit:
In part of Section 33, To-eninip 1 north, Bangs 1 east, Salt
Lake Base ;and Meridian; in Lots 1 and 4, Block 1, Plat "Gtt, Salt
Lake City Survey; 1 and 60, Block 2; 1 to 16, inclusive, Block 1,
Federal heights Subdivision, Fort Douglas Military Reservation; 24
to 48, inclu. ive, Block 6; 1 to 7, inclusive, Block 7; 1 and 7,
Block 0; and 25 to 35, inclusive, Block 11, Popperton Place

between South Temple Street and Third Avenue; on both sides of
Second Avenue from Virginia Street to a point 275 feet east of the

This tax is levied. to defray the exl)ense of grading, curbing
and guttering with cement, where curb and gutter have not already
been constructed, constructing drainage system to carry water
along and across streets and intersections, of vitrified and
concrete pies twelve (12) inches in diameter, constructing private
driveways, installing eater services, end paving with bituminous
concrete (said pavement to be thirty (30) feet bet:Teen curbs on
Second Avenue and Alta Street, thirty-five (35) feet between curbs
on Virginia Street between South Temple Street and Second Avenue,
and forty (40) feet wide on Virginia Street Seventy (70) feet nort
from Second. Avenue, and all of said ravemnt to be six (6) inches
thick, weith four (4) inch cruehed rock base and two (2) inch weari, g
6mi-facie of bituminous concrete) , the portions of said streets
opposite flee property hereinbefore en hereinafter described to be
especially affected and benefited by said inprovement, and. it is
hereby adjudged, determined. and establiehed that said property
will be especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the too

the lots, blocks and streets above mentioned in said districts,
which. to the total cost and cost per front foot of said imd7oveme t.
according to the contract entered into for the performance of sail
work and making said improvement, with Strange-Maguire Paving
Company,• dated the 11th day of July, 1916, and the Treasurer is
hereby authorized and directed to assess, in accordance with the
provisions of this ordinance, for the purpose herein mentioned:

side of Lots 1 and 7, Block 7; the north side of Lots 1 and 7,
Block 8; the east side of Lots 24 and 48, Block 6; the west side
of Lot 25, Block 11, 2opperton Place Subdivision, Section 33,
Township 1 north, Range 1 east, Salt Lake Base and heridian;
commencing 15 feet north of the northwest corner of Lot 25, Block
11, Poppertou Place Subdivision, thence north 125 feet, being a
part of the southwest quarter of Section 33, Township 1 north.;

City Survey; commencing 8.61 feet east of the southeast corner of
Lot 1, Block 16, Plat "G", Salt Lake City Survey, thence north
149.42 feet, thence northeasterly along a curve to the right havin,
a radius of 163.05 feet, for a distance of 90.24 feet, thence
northerly along a curve to the left having a radius of 31.05 feet,
for a distance of 17.16 feet, thence north 78.57 feet, being a par
of the southwest quarter of Section 33, Tranship 1 north, Range 1
east, Salt Lake Base and Meridian; the west side of Lots 1 and 60,
Block 2; the west side of Lots 1 to 16, Block 1, Federal Heights
Subdivision, Fort Douglas Military Reservation; the west side of
Lots 1 to 6, inclusive, Block 7, Popperton Place Subdivision,
Section 33, Township 1 north, Range 1 east, Salt Lake Base and

shown upon the official plats of said City to a depth of twenty-
five (25) feet back from said streets, and to collect said tax.
SEC'TIOD 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in ten
egaa1 yearly installments, with interest on the whole sum unpaid
at the rate of s'.a per cent per annum, payable at the time each
installment is due, to-wit: One-tenth thereof one year after the
ordinance confirming the levy of the tax for the payment for such
improvement becomes effective; one-tenth thereof in two years
after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth thereof in three
years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth thereof i_
Sour years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth there-
of in five years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tent
thereof in six years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-
tenth thereof in seven years after said ordinance becomes eftecti
one-tenth thereof in eiht years after said ordinance becomes
effective; one-tenth thereof in nine years after said ordinance
becomes effective; and one-tenth thereof in ten years after said
ordinance becomes effective. One or more of said installments, i
the order in which they are payable, or the whole special tax, ma,
be paid at any time within thirty days after the ordinance con-
firming the levy of the tax becomes effective, without interest.
In the event of any installment or the interest aforesaid not
being paid on the date the same becomes due, the whole amount of
the special tax unpaid at the time said installment and interest
are due, shall become due and payable, and shall draw interest at
the rate of eight per cent per annum until the sale of the proper'

assessed; provided, one or more installments, in the order in
which they are payable, or the whole special tax unpaid, may be
paid on the day any installment becomes due, by paying, the amount
thereof and interest to said date.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect one day after
its first publication.
