AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1817 of the Revised Ordi-
nanoes of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1920, relating to streets and irri-
gation.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Utah:
SECTION I. That Section 1817 of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1920, relating to streets and irrigation,
be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
SECTION 1817. CHIEF CLERK, SALARY, OATH, BOND, ETC.
There is hereby created the office of chief clerk in the de-
partment of streets and public improvements.
The Board of commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
may appoint a competent person to the office of chief clerk
in the department of streets and public improvements, who shall
receive a salary of not to exceed $1,920.00 per annum payable
monthly, and,who shall perform such duties as may be prescribed
by the board of commissioners and the commissioner of streets
and public improvements.
The chief clerk in the department of streets and pub-
' lie improvements shall, before entering upon the duties of his
office, subscribe the constitutional oath of office, and give
bond to Salt Lake City in the sum of $1,000.00, conditioned
as provided by law.
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners,

it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants
of said Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective ions
diately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect on Feb. let,
! 1926.
