Chapter 25 of Title 20 by adding thereto
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING%Sections 20-25-21 through 20-25-24 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to shoeshine parlors.
Be it ordinaned by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah:
Chapter 25 'of Title 20
SECTION 1. That kigx2RxghaisigecxxRR of the Revised Ordinances of Salt
Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to shoeshine parlors, be, and the same
hereby are, amended by adding thereto four new sections pertaining to
shoeshine parlors to read as follows:
"Sec. 20-25-21: Shoeshine parlors. Definition. "Shoeshine parlor"
shall mean any place where footwear is shined, polished or waterproofed
or any other exterior coating 'applied to footwear for hire.
Sec. 20-25-22. It shall be unlawful for any person to keep,
maintain, operate or conduct any shoeshine parlor which shall have
within the customer service area or in any manner connected with it,
any booth or stall: (a) Having curtains or doors thereto; or (b)
Which shall be reached by any entrance except the main entrance to such
shoeshine parlor. Said shoeshine parlors shall have the interiors of
each booth or stall plainly visible from the main floor of said shoe-
shine parlor, and each booth or stall shall be open the full width on
the side through which entrance to such booth or stall is gained.
Sec. 20-25-23. It shall be unlawful for any licensee, employee,
agent or permittee to or to permit any licensee, employee or agent:
(a) To circulate among the patrons or guests, except for the purpose of
applying exterior shine, polish, waterproofing or coating to patron's
footwear; or (b) To permit any employee to sit on any patron's or
guest's lap, legs or body.
Sec. 20-25-24. Any violation or sections 20-25-22 or 20-25-23 of
the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City shall be grounds for revoca-
tion of any and all licenses held by the business whose licensee,
employees or agents have violated said sections."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
it is necessary to the health, peace and welfare of the inhabitants of Salt
Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this 22nd
day of January, 1976.
