60 of 1902 - Ordinance 60 of 1902 – Paving Extension No. 6. ORDINANCE . An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property abutting on both sides of a certain alley situated between Main and Commercial Streets in Paving District No. 15, for the purpose of providing for the curbing and paving thereof. Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah: Section 1. That said City Council does hereby levy a tax and provide for the assessment upon the real property hereinafter des- cribed abutting on both sides of a certain alley situated between Main and Commercial Streets, in Paving District No. 15, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the said alley being part of and running through lots 3, 4, 5 and 6 in block 70, plat "A", Salt Lake City, more particularly described as follows: Beginning 11.88 feet west of the southeast corner of said lot 4, and running thence north 573.85 feet, thence east 122.73 feet, /u feet thence south along the west line of Commercial Street, thence west 108.67 feet, thence south 563.85 feet, thence west 14.06 feet to the place of beginning. This tax is levied to 41eleray the expense of curbing and paving said alley, and it is hereby adjudged, determined and established that the curbing and paving of said alley will thereby benefit the property abutting thereon and hereinafter described, to the full amount of the estimated cost thereof. Said property is to be assess,. at an equal and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon said alley, and to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back therefrom. The cost and expense of making said improvement are hereby estimated at seven thousand five hundred and thirty and 5/100 (. 7530.05) dollars, or five and 50/100 ($5.50) dollars per linear front foot, and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon said property is five and 50/100 ($5.50) dollars per front foot abuttingiaiinX upon said alley, and the City Treasurer is 'hereby authorized and directed to assess said property in accordance with GO {': -2- the provisions of this ordinance for the purpose herein mentioned. The property hereby assessed consists of parts of lots 3, 4, 5 and 6 in block 70, plat "A", Salt Lake City Survey, KM kiktlitaligg abutting on and extending twenty-five (25) feet back from the follow ing described lines: beginning 11.88 feet west of the southeast I1 corner of lot 4, thence north 573.85 feet, thence east 122.73 feet, alio beginning ,2. 8 feet east of the southwest corner of said lot 3, thence north 563.85 feet, thence east 108.67 feet. The total amount of said tax to be so levied and collected, at the rate of five and '50/100-($5.50) dollars per linear front foot is seven thousand five hundred:and thirty and 5/100 ($7530.0g) dollars . Section 2. That said tax levied a s aforesaid upon said prop- erty shall become delinquent as follows: Three fourths (3/4) of the 1st total amount so levied shall become delinquent on the YAM day of 15th August, 1902, and one fourth (1/4) on the YXX day of June, 1903. The said second installment shall draw interest at the rate of 7% per annum from the time of-the levy aforesaid, and if either of said installments shall be unpaid when they become delinquent, interest thereon shall be at the rate of 10% per annum until said delinquent installments are fully paid. Section 3. That the entire amount of tax so levied and assesse on said property may be paid by the owner of any of said property, or the entire equal proportion of said tax upon any piece of proper- ty may be paid by any person on any part thereof within ninety (90) days from said levy, and thereafter such pieces or portions of property affected by this tax shall be exempt from any lien or charge therefor. Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
