AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 530 of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1934, as amended by an ordinance passed by
the Board of Commissioners on January 12, 1938, as amended by ordi-
nances passed by the Board of Commissioners on may $, 1940, and May
28, 1940, relating to the b'ire Department.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 530 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1934, as amended by am ordinance passed by the
Board of Commissioners on January 12, 1938, as amended by- ordinances
passed by the Board of Commissioners on May 8, 1940, and May 28, 1940,
relating to the Fire Department, be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
SEC. 530. ORGANIZATION AND SALARIES. The lire Depart-
ment of Salt Lake City shall consist of the following officers,
whose salaries shall be as fixed by the Board of Commissioners,
within the limits specified as follows:
Not to exceed.
Chief of Department $3600.00
2 Assistant Chiefs 2940.00
2 Battalion Chiefs 2580.00
Superintendent of fire and police alarm . . 2460.00
Captains 2280.00
Lieutenants 2160.00
Secretary , 2160.00
Firemen of First Grade 1980.00
Firemen of Second Crade 1860.00
Firemen of Third Grade 1740.00
Alarm Operators, first grade 1980.00
Alarm Operators, second grade 1860.00
Alarm Operators, third grade 1740.00
One of the assistant chiefs shall be assigned to the
office of Fire Marshal. Inspectors, deputy fire marshals, master me-
chanic and firemen mechanics shall be graded as captains, lieuten-
ants or firemen of the first, sEqppnd and third grade.
SECTION 5, In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners,
it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants
of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
