AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Sec. 49-3-28 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955, Chapter 3, Water Supply and Waterworks,
said section entitled Meter Deposits and Agreements.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION 1. That Sec. 49-3-28 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt
Lake City, Utah, 1955, Chapter 3, Water Supply and Waterworks, said
section entitled Meter Deposits and Agreements, be, and the same
hereby is, amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 49-3-28. Meter deposits and agreements. Water takers,
who are not the owners of the premises on which metered water
service is being supplied, shall pay to the water department,
for deposit with the city treasurer, an amount sufficient to
cover the cost of water rates which may accumulate. The amount
deposited shall be not less than twice any monthly or quarterly
bill for water consumed over the preceding year on such premises,
but in no case shall it be less than $10.00. The water depart-
ment shall issue a certificate of deposit. The amount deposited
shall be refunded by the city treasurer to the holder upon the
surrender of the certificate properly endorsed, provided all
water bills and other charges are paid. All bills for water
rates must be paid promptly without reference to said deposit.
Whenever any consumer of water shall have failed to pay for
water supplied or services rendered to such premises, the money
deposited, or any part thereof, may by the board of commissioners
be applied to the payment of such delinquent bills. Water users
who are buying under contract or bond for deed premises to which
water service is being or is to be supplied shall be deemed
owners under this section and need not furnish the deposit herein
required. Contractors applying for new water service, claiming
to be owners of the property involved shall be required to make
deposits hereinabove specified. The provisions of this section
shall apply alike to all water consumers receiving water service
whether within or without the corporate limits of Salt Lake City."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners, it is
necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants of Salt

Lake City, Utah, that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this lstday of October, 1963.
