Green Mr. Chairman Result AN ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A TAX and for the assessment of pro- perty in Lighting District No. 9-A, for the purpose of providing for the operation, maintenance and patrolling of arc lamps. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION I. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same upon the property hereinafter described in Lighting Dis- trict No. 9-A, for the purpose of providing for the operation, maintenance and patrolling of arc lamps, to-wit: In Lots 5 and 6 of Blk. 69, Lots 5, 6, 7 and 8 of Blk. 70, Lots 1 and 2 of Blk. 75 and Lots 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Blk. 76, Plat "A", Salt Lake City Survey, a butting on both sides of 1st South Street from Nest Temple Street to State Street in Salt Lake City. This tax is levied to defray the expense of providing for the operation, maintenance and patrolling of arc lamps (said lamps to be eighty-four (84) in number; fourteen (14) ornamental iron standards on each block in said district (seven standards to be on each side of each block) each standard to carry three inverted type ornamental i.6 ampere luminous arc lamps), said lamps to be illuminated by electric current; said standards to be approximately 110 feat apart, and to be supplied with electric current for the illumination of the same each night from fifteen 61 -4^ 1minutes before dark until midnight, four (4) lamps in each block !however, to be lighted all night (the cost of operation of the a ;night lamps being Six Thousand Hive Hundred Fifty-three and 04/10 1 ( 6,553.04) Dollars, and same to be paid for by the city), the !circuits for the operation of said system of lamps to be under- ! ground, and the portions of said streets opposite the property Ihereinbefore and hereinafter described to be especially affected land benefited by said improvement and it is hereby adjudged, de- Itermined and established that said property will be especially rbenefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby levied, land said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal and uni- ! form rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon and to tithe entire depth back therefrom and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon said parcels of land is Forty Thousand Forty- ! ! five and 69/100 440,045.69) Dollars or Sixteen and 029625/1000001 ! ($16.029625) Dollars per front or linear foot of abutting propert, , ! there being 2498.23 feet abutting said portion of said improvemen' land the cost of which operation, maintenance and patrolling and the property benefited thereby is hereinafter set out, and all ! within the boundaries of the. lots, blocks and streets above men- tioned in said district, which is the total abutters' cost and coat per front foot of said improvement for a period of ten years, according to the contract entered into for the performance of sai. work and making said improvement with Utah Power and Light Com- pany, dated the 27th day of August, 1925., service beginning Sep- tember 16, 1925, said levy to date and be effective from Septem- ber 16, 1925, and the City Treasurer is hereby authorized and di- rected to assess in accordance with the provisions of this ordi- ! nance, for the purpose herein mentioned: The N. side of Lots 5 and 6 of Blk. 69; the N. side of Lots 5, 7 and 8 of Blk. 70; the N. side of the W. 112.0 ft. and the Z. 2.23 ft. of Lot 6 of Blk. 70; the S. side of the 51. 305.0 ft, of Lot 1 and the S. side of Lot 2, of Blk. 75; the S. side o -3- Lots 1, 3 and 4, and the S. side of the E. 99.0 ft. of Lot 2, of !Blk. 76; Plat "A", Salt Lake City Survey, as the same are shown upon the official plats of said city to the entire depth back ;from said streets, and to collect said tax. SECTION II. 'That the assessment list made by the City (Treasurer, as corrected, approved and completed by the Board of Equalization and Review of the property described in Section I lof this ordinance in Lighting District No. 9-A of Salt Lake City, (for the purpose of providing for the operation, maintenance and ;patrolling of arc lamps, is hereby confirmed, and the assessments • (made and returned in said completed lists and the report of the Board of Equalization and Review to the Board of Commissioners of 1Salt Lake City are hereby ratified, approved and confirmed. SECTION III. Said tax shall be payable in ten equal yearly installments as provided by law and ordinance. In the event any installment is not paid on the day the same becomes due, the whole amount of the special tax unpaid at the time said in- stallment is due, shall become due and payable, and shall draw in- terest at the rate of twelve per cent per annum until the sale of the property assessed. SECTION IV. This ordinance shall take effect one day after its first publication. Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this Vr\ day of A. D. 1925. 27 4ayor. City Recorder.
