Mr.Chairman / AN ORDINANCE Result AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 44 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955, pertaining to Telegraph, Telephone, street Railroad, Electric Wires and Poles by amending Sections 44-1-2, 44-1-6, 44-1-7, 44-1-8 and 44-1-9. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah. SECTION 1. That Section 44-1-2 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, 1955, pertaining to Permit For Erection Of Wooden Poles be amended to read as follows: "Sec. 44-1-2. PERMIT FOR ERECTION OF WOODEN POLES. It shall be unlawful for any person to set or erect in or on any public street, alley or way of Salt Lake City, or in or an any public ground within said city or of said city, any pole or poles for any purpose, without first having procured from the city engineer of said city a permit therefor. "The 6ity kngineer is hereby authorized by the hoard of Commissioners to issue a permit for the location of poles referred to in this chapter, which permit shall be issued if the poles and structures contemplated are in conformity in type, size and con- dition with other poles and structures in the , general area. s r... "The toard of Commissioners may at any time,any street, alley or way is about to be paved pass a resolution requiring all persons maintaining poles in the center of such street, alley or way to remove the same to the side of such street, alley or way." SECTION 2. That Section 44-1-6 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955, relating to Poles At Intersection be amended to read as follows: fl Rec. 200 6.58 Q.P. -2- "Sec. 44-1-6. Poles At Intersection. It shall be unlawful for any person to erect or maintain any pole or other obstruction in the intersection outside of the curb line of any street of Salt Lake City, except upon plans and pecifications submitted to and approved by the D.ity ngineer." of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955 SECTION 3. That Section 44-1-7/pertaining to Poles In Center Of Streets be amended to read as follows: "Sec. 44-1-7. Poles In Center Of Streets. It shall be unlawful for any person to erect poles of any character for any purpose in the center of any street in Salt Lake City, except upon plans and specifications submitted to and approved by the city engineer." SECTION 4. That Section 44-1-8 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955, pertaining to Finish Of Poles be amended to read as follows: "Sec. 44-1-8. Finish Of Poles. It shall be unlawful for any person to erect or maintain any pole or poles in any street of Salt Lake City, unless such pole, if wooden, is peeled and neatly trimmed of knots, presenting a smooth appearance, and, whether wooden o steel, painted with a color approved by the City engineer. The name of the corporation erecting or maintaining said pole or poles shall also be designated on aid pole or poles in a manner approved by the city engineer." SECTION 5. That Section 44-1-9 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955, pertaining to Height Of Wires be amended to read as follows: "Sec. 44-1-9. Height Of Wires. It shall be unlawful for any person to attach any telegraph, telephone or electric light, electric or power wire to any pole in the streets of Salt Lake City at a distance of less than eighteen feet from the grade of the street at the base of the pole, provided, trolley wires shall not be less than fifteen feet from street grade. It shall likewise be unlawful for any person to attach wires thereon used for a different purpose, at a distance of less than three feet from wires previously attached; provided, that this section shall not be construed to prevent any person already having wires attached to a pole, from attaching additional wires at a distance of less than three feet, nor fx ,m preventing any person :. ` r c+ P Rec. 200 649 Q.P.
