All ORDINANCE AMENDING Section 30-1-14 of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955, relating to giftsgiven members of the
Salt Lake City Police Depathtient.
Be it ordained by the Board of•Commissionersof Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 30-1-14 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955, relating to Lifts given members of the
Salt Lake City Department, be, and. the same hereby is, amended to read
as follows:
"Section 30-1-14. Gifts, acceptance of, penalty. No member of
the police department shall receive any fee or compensation what-
ever, directly or indirectly, from a city, county or state for
any service rendered or act done by such member of the police
department other than the salary provided by ordinance, except
witness fees in superior courts; nor shall any member of the
police department receive any money or compensation whatever,
directly or indirectly, from any persoe for any service rendered,
to be rendered, or act done other than the salary provided by
ordinance; provided, however, that a gift of reward or compensa-
tion for service rendered may be accepted by a member of the
police department only upon approval of the Chief of Police.
"Any violation of this section will subject the offender to
immediate dismissal."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners, it
is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of
Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah,. this 16th day of May 1960
