63 of 1911 - Ordinance 63 of 1911 – Paving Extension No. 63, First Partial Estimate. AN ORDINAN CE . An ordinance levying a tax ind for the assessment of property on Third East Street between South Temple and Third South Streets, in Paving District No. 27, for the purpose of providing for the grading and paving thereof. Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City; SECTION 1. That the City Council does hereby levy the tat an. i provide for the assessment of the same upon the property hereinafter described in Paving District No. 27, for the purpose of providing for the grading and paving of a portion of said district, to-wit: In Lots 1, 7 and 8, Block 73; 1, and 8, Block 72; 1, 6, 7 Plat "An; and 8, Block 55;^41 Block 63; 2, 3, 4 and 5, Block 50; and 4 and 5, Block 49, Plat "B", abutting on both sides of Third East Street between South Temple and Third South Streets. This tax is levied to defray the expense of grading and pavin: with asphalt (said asphalt pavement to be seventy-two (72) feet wide between curbs, and nine and 1/2 (9-1/2) inches thick), the portion of said Third East Street hereinafter described to be especially affeoted and benefited by said improvement, and it is hereby adjudged, determined and established that said property wil be especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax here by levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equa and uniform rate inVaccordance with the linear foot frontage upon said portion of said street fronting upon and to a depth of twenty five (25) feet back therefrom, and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon said parcels of land is thirty-four thousand five hundred twenty-nine and 72/100 ("$'34,529.72) dollars, or ten and 437459/1,000,000 410.1137459) dollars per front or linear foot of abutting property for grading and paving the street above mentions. in Paving District No. 27, there being 3308.25 feet of abutting property within the boundaries of the lots, blocks and street ahoy: mentioned in said district, which is the total cost and cost per front foot of said pavement, according to the contract entered int. -2- for the performance of said work and making said improvement, with P. J. Moran, dated the 22nd day of May, 1911, and the Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to assess in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance, for the purpose herein mentioned: The south 8.25 feet of the east side of Lot 7, the east side of Lots 1 and 8, Block 73; the east side of Lots 1 and 8, Block 72 the east side of Lots 1, 6, 7 and 8, Block 55, Plat "A"; the west side of Lot 4, Block 63; the west side of Lots 2, 3, 4 and 5, Bloc 50; the west side of Lots 4 and 5, Block 49, Plat "B", Salt Lake City Survey, as the same are shown upon the official plate of said city to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back from said street, and to collect said tax. SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in ten equal yearly installments, with interest on the whole sum unpaid at the rate of six per cent per annum, payable at the time each in stallment is due, to-wit: One-tenth thereof one year after the approval of the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax for the payment for such improvement; one-tenth thereof in two years after such approval; one-tenth thereof in three years after such approve ; one-tenth thereof in four years after such approval; one-tenth thereof in five years after such approval; one-tenth thereof in si years after such approval; one-tenth thereof in seven years a'flier such approval; one-tenth thereof in eight years after such approva ; one-tenth thereof in nine years after such approval; and one-tenth thereof in ten years after such approval. One or more of said in- stallments, in the order in which they are payable, or the whole special tax, may be paid at any time within thirty days after the approval of the ordinance confirming; the levy of the tax, without interest. In the event of any installment or the inter.eet afore- said, not being paid on the d<ete the same become due, the whole amount of the special tax unpaid at the oald inetollrcent and interest are due, shall become due and ,sayable, and shall draw interest at the rate of eight per cent per annum until the sale of -3- the property assessed; provided, one or more installments, in the order in which they are payable, or the whole special tax unpaid, may be paid on the day any installment becomes duo, by paying the amount thereof and interest to said date. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval. Paving Extension No. 63. First Partial Estimate.
