AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Section 25-5-3(b) and (c) of the
Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to Pay
Differentials for Fire Department Paramedics and Emergency
Medical Technicians.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 25-5-3(b) and (c) of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to Pay
Differentials for Fire Department Paramedics, and emergency
Medical Technicians, be, and the same hereby is amended as
follows:
Sec. 25-5-3(a). EMT Differentials. Personnel currently
certified by the State of Utah as Emergency Medical
Technicians and assigned by the fire chief to duty as
Emergency Medical Technicians shall be paid 3% of a 1st
Grade Fire Fighter's salary, pay class 456, as a pay
differential in addition to their regular salaries.
(b) Paramedic Differentials. Personnel currently
certified by the State of Utah as paramedics and assigned to
duty as paramedics by the fire chief shall be paid the
following as a pay differential in addition to their regular
salaries:
Initial Certification -- 10% of First Grade
Fire Fighter salary
(Pay Class 456).
First Recertification -- An additional 2.5% of
First Grade Fire
Fighter salary.
Second Recertification -- An additional 2.5% of
First Grade Fire
Fighter salary.
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of
Salt Lake City, it is necessary to the peace, health and welfare
of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become
effective immediately.

SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication, and shall be retroactive in effect to April 1, 1979.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah, this 3rd day of May/ 1979.
