An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property
on Fourth East Street between South Temple and Fourth South Street. ,
in Paving District No. 27, for the purpose of providing for the
grading, guttering and curbing, and paving thereof.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the City Council does hereby levy the tax
and provide for the assessment of the same upon the property here-
inafter described in Paving District No. 27, for the purpose of
providing for the grading and paving Of a portion of said district
to-wit: 2
In Lots 4 and 5, Block 51; ! to 6, inolusive, Block 48; 1, 6,

7 and 8, Block50; 1 and '8, Block 49; 1 and 8, Block 63; 2 to 5,
inclusive, Block 62, all in Plat "B", abutting on both aides of
Fourth East Street between South Temple and Third South Streets.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of grading, and paving
with asphalt (said asphalt pavement to be seventy-two (72) feet
wide between ourbs, and nine and 1/2 (9-1/2) inches thick) , the
portion of said Fourth East Street hereinbefore and hereinafter
described to be especially affected and benefited by said improve-
ment, and it is hereby adjudged, determined and established that
said property will be especially benefited thereby to the full
amount of the tax hereby levied, and said parcels of land are here;
by assessed at an equal and uniform rate in accordance with the
linear foot frontage upon said portion of said street fronting upo
and to a depth of twenty-five (26) feet bank therefrom, and the t-
hereby levied and to be assessed upon said parcels of land is
thirty-nine thousand seven hundred ninety-three and 8G/100
( 39,793.86) dollars, or ten and 48955/1,000,000 ( 10.048955) dol-
lars per front or linear foot of abutting property for roadway 72
feet wide, there being 3960 feet of abutting property within the
boundaries of the lots, blocks and stroot above mentioned in said
district, which is the total cost and cost por front foot of said

pavement, according to the contract entered into for tho performance
of said work and making said improvement, with P. J. '.loran, dated
the 22nd day of May, 1911, and the Treasurer is hereby authorized
and directed to assess in accordance with the provisions of this
ordinance for the purpose herein mentioned:
Seventy-two Foot Roadway.
The west side of Lots 4 and 5, Block 51; the west side of Lot•
2 to 5, inclusive, Block 48; the east side of Lots 1, 6, 7 and 8,
Block 50; the east side of Lots 1 and 8, Block 49; the east side o
Lots 1 and 8, Block 63; the west side of Lots 2 to 5, inclusive,
Block 62, all in Plat "B", Salt Lake City Survey, as the same are
shown upon the official plate of said city, to a depth of twenty-
five (25) feet back from said street, and to collect said tax.
SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in ten eq al
installments, with interest on the whole sum unpaid at the rate of
six per cent per annum, payable at the time each installment is du: ,
to-wit: One tenth thereof one year after the approval of the ordi
nance confirming the levy of the tax for the payment for such im-
provement; one-tenth thereof in two years alter such approval; one
tenth thereof in three years after such approval; one-tenth thereo
in four years after such approval; one-tenth thereof in five years
after such approval; one-tenth thereof in six years after such ap-
proval; one-tenth thereof in seven years after ouch approval; one- I
tenth thereof in eight years after such approval; one-tenth there°`
in nine years after such approval; and one-tenth thereof in ten
years after such approval. One or mare of said installments, in
the order in which they are payable, or the whole special tax may
be paid at any time within thirty days after the approval of the
ordinance confirming the levy of the tax, without int.'reet. In th.
event of any installment or the interest aforesaid not being paid
on the date the same becomes due, the whole amount of the special
tax unpaid at the time said instalment and interest are due, steal
become duo and payable, and shall draw interest at the rate of eigh
per cent per annum until the sale of the proporty assessed; provide ,
one or more installments, in the order in which they are payable, o
the whole special tax unpaid, may be paid on the day any install-
ment becomes due, by paying the amount thereof and interest to said
date.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon ;approval.
