Result AN ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A TAX and for the assessment of
property in Lighting District No. 6-B, for the purpose of pro-
viding for the operation, maintenance and patrolling of arc lamps.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Utah:
SECTION I. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of
the same upon the property hereinafter described in Lighting Dis-
trict No. 6-B:, for the purpose of providing for the operatioh,
maintenance and patrolling of arc lamps, to-wit:
In Lots 4 and 5 of Bik. 74; Lots 1, 6, 7 and 8
of Blk. 75; Lots 2, 3, 4 and 5 of Bik. 71; Lots 1 and 8
of Blk. 70; Lots 4 and 5 of Blk. 561.Lots 1, 6, 7 and 8
of Blk. 57; Lots 2, 3, 4 and 5 of Blk. 53, and Lots 1 and
8 of Blk. 52; all in flat aj , Salt Lake City Survey, abutting
on both sides of State Street from South Temple Street to 4th
South Street in Salt Lake City.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of providing for
the operation, maintenance and patrolling of arc lamps ( said lamps
to be one hundred sixty-eight (168) in number; fourteen (14) orna-
mental iron standards on each block in said district (seven stan-
dards to he on each side of each block) each standard to carry
three inverted type ornamental 6.6 ampere luminous aro. lamps, said
lamps to be illuminated by electric current; said standards to be
approximately 110 ft. apart, and to be supplied with electric cur-

rent for the illumination of the same each night from fifteen min-1
utes before dark until midnight, four (4) lamps in each block,
however, to be lighted all night (the cost of operation of the alll

night lamps being Thirteen Thousand One Hundred six and 08/100
(013,106.08) Dollars, and same to be paid for by the city), the 1
circuits for the operation of said system of lamps to he under-
ground, and the portions of said streets opposite the property here-
inbefore and hereinafter described to be especially affected and
.benefited by said improvement and it is hereby adjudged, deter-
mined and established that said property will be especially bane-
fitted thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby levied, and
said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal and uniform
rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon and to the
entire depth back therefrom and the tax hereby levied and to be
assessed upon said parcels of land is Seventy-nine Thousand Six
„Hundred Ninety-four and 89/100 (079,694.89) Dollars or Fifteen awdl
t55219511000000 (015.552195) Dollars per front or linear foot of
abutting property, there being 5124.35 feet abutting said portion
of said improvement and the cost of which operation, maintenance
and patrolling and the property benefited thereby is hereinafter
set out, and all within the boundaries of the lots, blocks and
streets above mentioned in said district, which is the total
abutters' cost and cost per front foot of said improvement for a
period..of ten years, according to the contract entered into for
the performance of said work and making said improvement with Utah'
Power and Light Company, dated the 5th day of October, 1924, whichI
is the date service began, said levy to date and be effective from]
October 5, 1924, and the City Treasurer is hereby authorised and 1
directed to assess in accordance with the provisions of this ordi-t
nance, for the purpose herein mentioned:
The W. side of the N. 294 ft. of Lot 5, the W. side of
Ithe S. 11 ft. of Lot 5, the W. side of the N. 25 ft. of Lot 4,tho
IW". side of the S. 280 ft. of Lot 4, of Bik. 74; the E. side of
Lots 1, 6, 7 & 8 of Blk. 75; the W. side of Lots 2, 3, 4 80 5 of Baia,.'

71; the E. side of the N. 177 ft. of Lot 8, the E. side of the S.
113.35 ft. of Lot 8, the east side of Lot 1, of Elk. 70; the W.
side of Lots 4 & 5 of Blk. 56; the East side of Lots 1, 6, 7 & 8
of Blk. 57; the West side of Lots 2, 3, 4 & 5 of Blk. 53; the East
side of Lot 8, the E. side of the N. 85 ft. of Lot 1, the Si. side
of the S. 179 ft. of Lot 1, of Elk. 52; all in Plat "A", Salt Lake
City Survey, as the same are shown upon the official plats of said
city to the entire depth back from said streets, and to collect
said tax..
SECTION II. That the assessment list made by the City
Treasurer, as corredted, approved and completed by the Board of
Equalization and Review of the property described in Section I of
this ordinance in Lighting Distriot No. 6-B of Salt Lake City, for
the purpose of providing for the operation, maintenance and patrol-}
ling of arc lamps, is hereby confirmed, and the assessments made
and returned in said completed lists, and the report of the Board
of Equalization and Review to the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City are hereby ratified, approved and confirmed.
SECTION III. Said tax shall be payable in ten equal
yearly installments as provided by law and ordinance. In the event
any installment is not paid on the day the same becomes due, the
whole amount of the special tax unpaid at the time said installment
is due, shall become due and payable, and shall draw interest at
the rate of twelve per cent per annum until the sale of the pro-
perty
assessed.
SECTION IV. This ordinance shall take effect one day
after its first publication.
