AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER XIII of the Revised Ordi-
nances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, by amending Sections 1301,
1302, and 1303 of said chapter and by adding in and to said chapter
three new sections to be known as Sections 1304, 1305, and 1306,
all of which sections relate to the Uniform Building Code.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Chapter XIII of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, be and the same is hereby amended
by amending Sections 1301, 1302, and 1303 of said chapter and by
adding in and to said chapter three new sections to be known as
Sections 1304, 1305, and 1306, all of which sections relate to the
Uniform Building Code, and which sections read as follows:
"SEC. 1301. The Uniform Building Code adopted, approved,
and issued by the Pacific Coast Building Officials Conference
at the 6th annual meeting October 1927 with revisions and
additions approved at the 23rd annual meeting September 1945
and which code was published January 1, 1946, as a code in
book form, three copies of which code have been filed for use
and examination by the public in the office of the Recorder
of Salt Lake City, and which code establishes rules and regu-
er, lations for the erection, construction, enlargment, altera-
tion, repair, moving, removal, conversion, demolition, occupancy,
equipment, use, height, area and maintenance of buildings,
and/or structures in the City of Salt Lake City, providing
for the issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor,
declaring and establishing fire districts, providing
penalties for the violation thereof, and repealing all

ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict thereto are
hereby adopted by Salt Lake City as the ordinances, rules and

regulations of said City, together with/the amendments to said
code as herein after set out.
SEC. 1302. Section 205 of the Uniform Building Code,
1946 edition, adopted by Section 1301 of these ordinances is
hereby amended to read as follows, to-wit:
'Sec. 205. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corpo
ration to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move,
improve, remove, convert or demolish, er,.uip, use, occupy or
maintain any building or structure in the city, or cause the
same to be done, contrary to or in violation of any of the
provisions of this Code.
Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provision
of this Code shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and each'
such person shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for 1
each and every day or portion thereof during which any viola-
tion of any of the provisions of this Code is committed, con-
tinued or permitted, and upon the conviction of any such
violation such person shall be punishable by a fine of not
more than !h299, or by imprisonment for not more than six
months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.'
SEC. 1303. That paragraph (b) pertaining to plan-checkint
fees of Section 303 of the Uniform Building Code, 1946 edition
adopted by Section 1301 of these ordinances is hereby repealed
SEC. 1304. That chapter 51 pertaining to heating appli-
ances which includes Sections 5101 to 5115 inclusive of the
Uniform Building Code, 1946 edition, adopted by Section 1301 o
these ordinances is hereby repealed and whole thereof.
SEC. 1305. That the Uniform Building Code referred to
in Section 1301 as amended by Sections 1302, 1303, and 1304
containing 51 chapters and numbered in sections from Section
101 to Section 5115 inclusive, together with the several
standard codes set out in said Building Code be and are hereby
adopted and published by authority of the Board of Commis-
sioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, and may be cited and designated
as the Uniform Building Code, 1946 edition. I
SEC. 1306. Wherever reference is made in any section of
the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, 1944, or in any
amendment thereto to the Uniform Building Code, 1940 edition,

that portion of any such section so referring to the Uniform
. Building Code, 1940 edition, is hereby amended to provide that)
any such reference shall hereinafter be to the Uniform Buildin
Code, 1946 edition.'
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners,
•t is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants
.f Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
