Mr.Chairman . // 1/ AN ORDINANCE Result / AN ORDINANCE Submitting to the electors of Salt Lake City, Utah, the question: "Shall a commission be chosen to frame a charter." Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1: WHEREAS, there have been filed with the City Recorder of Salt Lake City, Utah, petitions signed by qualified electors of Salt Lake City in number exceeding l5Ve of all votes cast at the next preceding election for the office of the mayor, petitioning that there be submitted to the electors of Salt Lake City, at the next regular municipal election, the question: "Shall a commission be chosen to frame a charter;" and it further appearing that the requirements of Article XI, Section 5 of the Constitution of the State of Utah, relating to the submission of such question, have been met and an ordinance should be adopted by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City submitting such questionto the electors. If'J NOW, THEREFORE, pursuant to said Article XI, Section 5 of the Constitution of the State of Utah, it is hereby ordained that there be submitted to the electors of alt Lake City, Utah, at the next regular municipal election to be held on the 5th day of November, 1957, the following question: "Shall a commission be chosen to frame a charter?" Be it further ordained that the City Recorder prepare, and have available for use at such election, the requisite number of ballots containing such question, together with the names of candidates for members of the proposed commiaion without any party designation, the names 65 _2_ to appear in alphabetical order, according to surnames, and to do all things necessary for the proper submission of said question to the electors of Salt Lake City; and should there be more than 30 candidates for members of such commission that the City Recorder do all things necessary to place such candidates upon a primary ballot and to do all things necessary to have selected at the forthcoming primary election, 30 members of said commission to be voted upon at the next regular municipal election.
