AN ORDINANCE
Result . . . .
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING OF A SPECIAL ELECTION IN SALT LAKE
CITY, UTAH, for the purpose of submitting to the registered voters living with-
in Salt Lake City, Utah, the question of the creation by the Board of Commis-
sioners of said city of a separate and independent public body, corporate and
politic, which shall be known as the "Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City,
Utah."
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Utah, in its 1965 session enacted
legislation known as the "Utah Community Redevelopment Law," as contained in
Chapter 13 of the Session Laws of Utah 1965, which law provides for the creation
of a redevelopment agency of a city for the rehabilitation and clearance and
redevelopment of slums and blighted areas in or near a city under a plan of
procedure prescribed in said law; and
WHEREAS, said law provides that the creation of any such redevelopment
agency must be authorized by a majority vote of the registered voters within
the city at a special election called for the purpose of voting upon the ques-
tion of creating such agency; and
WHEREAS, said law provides that said election may be called by the Board
of Commissioners as the legislative body of Salt Lake City upon its own initia-
tive, and said Board of Commissioners has determined that such election should
be held to give the registered voters of Salt Lake City the opportunity of
deciding whether such redevelopment agency should be created within Salt Lake
City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT, AND IT HEREBY IS, ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMIS-
SIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That on the 17th day of August, 1965, there shall be held
within Salt Lake City, Utah, a special election between the hours of 7 o'clock

a.m. and 8 o'clock p.m., at which time there shall be submitted to the regis-
tered voters living within Salt Lake City the proposition appearin3in the form
of ballot set out in Section 5 hereof.
SECTION 2. That the voting places for said election shall be those speci-
fied in the notice of special election set out in Section 4 hereof.
SECTION 3. That said election shall be held as nearly as may be in con-
formity with the general election laws of the State of Utah and the officials
of said city shall and are hereby authorized and directed to perform and do
all things necessary to the proper calling and conduct of such election and the
canvass of the results thereof.
SECTION 4. That said notice of said election shall be given by publishing
the following notice of said election in each issue of the Deseret News, a news-
paper of general circulation, printed and published in Salt Lake City, for the
four full weeks immediately preceding said election, the first of said publica-
tions to be made not later than twenty-eight days before the date of said
election. In its discreation the City may omit in each publication of such
notice, other than the four notices published at weekly intervals, beginning
with the first publication, the list of voting places set forth in the form of
notice contained in this section and may substitute therefor the statement:
"The voting places to be used for said election shall be those set forth in
the election notice published in the Deseret News on July 16, 1965, July 23,1965
