Green ) Stewart % / Mr. Chairman ✓ Result AN ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A TAX and for the assessment of property in Lighting District No. 7-B, for the purpose of pro- viding for the operatioh, maintenance and patrolling of arc lamps. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION I. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same upon the property hereinafter described in Lighting Dis- trict No. 7-B, for the purpose of providing for the operation, maintenance and patrolling of arc lamps, to-wit: In Lots 5 and 6 of Blk. 51, Lots 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Blk. 58, Lots 5 to 8 incl. of Blk. 52, Lots 1 and 2 of Blk. 57, Lots 5 and 6 of Blk. 53, and Lots 1, 2, 3, and 4 of Blk. 56; all in Plat "A", Salt Lake City Survey, abutting on both sides of Third south Street from vest Temple Street to 2nd East Street in salt Lake City. This tax is levied to defray the expense of providing for the operation, maintenance and patrolling of arc lamps (said lamps to be one hundred twenty-six (126) in number; fourteen (14) ornamental iron standards on each block in said district (seven standards to be on each side of each block) each standard to carry three inverted type ornamental 6.6 ampere luminous arc lamps, said lamps to be illuminated by electric current; said standards to be approximately 110 feet apart, and to be supplied with electric current for the illumination of the same each night -2- from fifteen minutes before dark until midnight, fsur. (4) lamps in each block, however, to be lighted all night (the cost of operation of the all night lamps being Nine Thousand eight Hundred Twenty-nine and 56/100 (49,829.56) Dollars, and same to be paid for by the city) , the circuits for the operation of said system of lamps to be underground, and the portions of said streets oppo- site the property hereinbefore and hereinafter described to be es- pecially affected and benefited by said improvement and it is here-1, by adjudged, determined and established that said property will be especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax here-1 by levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon I and to the entire depth back therefrom and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon said parcels of land is Fifty-nine Thousand Seven Hundred Seventy-one and 1T/100 (459,771.17) Dollars or Fif- teen and a86744/1000000 ( 15.286744) Dollars per front or linear foot of abutting property, there being 3910.00 feet abutting said portion of said improvement and the cost of which operation, mainte- nance and patrolling and the property benefited thereby is herein- after set out, and all within the boundaries of the lots, blocks and streets above mentioned in said district, which is the total abutters' cost and cost per front foot of said improvement for a it period of ten years, according to the contract entered into for the performance of said work and making said improvement with Utah Power and Light Company, dated the 5th day of October, 1924, which,, is the date service began, said levy to date and be effective from'. October 5th, 1924, and the City Treasurer is hereby authorised and', directed to assess in accordance with the provisions of this ordi-i nanee, for the purpose herein mentioned; The North side of Lots 5 and 6 of Blk. 51, the south side of Lots 1, 3 and 4 of Blk. 58, the South side of the W. 155 ft. of Lot a of Blk. 58, the North side of Lots 5 to 8 incl. of Blk. 5a, the south side of Lots 1 and 2 of Blk. 57, the north side I , i l _3_ of Lots 5 and 6 of Blk. 53, the south side of Lots 1 and 4 of Blk. ! 56, the south side of the U. 78 feet of Lot 3, the S. side of the !. E. 77 feet. of Lot 3, the south side of the W. 50 feet of Lot 2 and. the South side of the N. 85 feet of Lot 2, of Blk. 56; all in tBlat "A", Salt Lake City Survey, as the same are- shown upon the official plats of said city to the entire depth back from said streets, and to collect said tag. SECTION II. That the assessment list made by the City Treasurer, as corrected, approved and completed by the Board of Equalization and iteview of the property described in Section I of this ordinance in Lighting District No. 7-B of Salt Lake City, for the purpose of providing for the operation, maintenance and patrolling of arc lamps; is hereby confirmed, and the assessments made and returned in said completed lists, and the report of the Board of Equalization and Review to the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City are hereby ratified, approved and confirmed. SECTION III, Said tam shall be payable in ten equal yearly installments as provided by law and ordinance. In the even any installment is not paid on the day the same becomes due, the whole amount of the special tax unpaid at the time said installment is due, shall become due and payable, and shall draw interest at the rate of twelve per cent per annum until the sale of the pro- perty assessed. SECTION IV. This ordinance shall take effect one day after its first publication. } Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this rL -day of , A.D. 1924. City Recorder.
