AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Section 278 of Article 18 of the Traffic
Code of Salt Lake City, Utah, by adding thereto two new subsections
(8) and (9) , relating to regulations for bicycles.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 278 of Article 18 of the Traffic
Code of Salt Lake City, Utah, by adding thereto two new subsections
(8) and (9), relating to regulations for bicycles, be, and the same
hereby is, amended to read as follows:
(8) When riding upon a roadway marked with a bicycle
lane to ride upon the sidewalk or any portion of the roadway
outside the marked bicycle lane except when making a left
turn.
(9) To ride upon the left hand side of any street,
except when they are within a marked bicycle lane or when
riding upon a one-way street."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of
Salt Lake City, it is necessary to the peace, health and welfare
of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become
effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Sa.l. Lake City, Utah,
this 4th day of June , 1974.
