Green Stewart 2 / / ��/�" Mr. Chairman.. / v Result AN ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A TAX and for the assessment of property in Lighting District No. 8-B, for the purpose of pro- vidi:ng for the operation, maintenance and patrolling of arc lamps. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION I. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same upon the property hereinafter described in Lighting Dis- trict No. 8-a, for the purpose of providing for the operation, maintenance and patrolling of arc lamps, to-wit: In Lots 5 tnd 6 of Blk. 39, and Lots 1, 2, 3, and 4 of Blk. 52., Plat "A", Salt Lake Qity Survey, abutting on both sides of 4th South Street from ;Main Street to State Street in Salt Lake City. This tax is levied to defray the expense of providing for the operation, maintenance and patrolling of arc lamps (said lamps to be forty-two (42) in number; fourteen (14) ornamental iron standards 4n each block in said district (seven standards to be on each side of each block) each standard to carry three inverted type ornamental 6.6 ampere luminous arc lamps, said lamps to be illuminated by electric current; said standards to be approximately 110 feet apart, and to be supplied with electric current for the illumination of the same each night from fifteen minutes before dark until midnight, four (4) lamps in each block, however, to be lighted all night (the cost of operation of the all night lamps k :1, -a- I li being Three Thousand Two Hundred Seventy-six and 52/100 (43,276.52)1 !Dollars, and same to be paid for by the city), the circuits for the loperation of said system of lamps to be underground, and the por- • tions of said streets opposite the property hereinbefore and here inafter described to be especially affected and benefited by said (improvement and it is hereby adjudged, determined and established that said property will be especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby levied, and said parcels of land are here-i by assessed at an equal and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon and to the entire depth back therefrom and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon said parcels of j iland is Twenty-thousand twenty-two and 85/100 (420,022.85) Dollard' ,or Sixteen and 44925/100000 (416.44925) Dollars per front or linear ! foot of abutting property, there being 1217.25 feet abutting said portion of said improvement and the cost of which operation, maint4- i' nance and patrolling and the property benefited thereby is herein-', after set out, and all within the boundaries of the lots, blocks and streets above mentioned in said district, which is the total j ! abutters` cost and cost per front foot of said improvement for a period of ten years, according to the contract entered into for the performance of said work and making said improvement with Utah Power and Light Company, dated the 5th day of October, 1924, which is the date service began, said levy to date and be effective ifrom October 5, 1924, and the City Treasurer is hereby authorized . and directed to assess in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance, for the purpose herein mentioned: The N. side of the W. 305.25 ft. of Lot 5, the N. side of the E. 318 ft. of Lot 5, of Blk. 39; the south side of Lots 1 4 4, the S. side of the E. 132 ft. of Lot 2 and the S. side of the: W. 132 ft. of Lot 3, Blk. 52; all in Plat "A", Salt Lake City Sur-I vey, as the same are shown upon the official plats of said city to the entire depth back from said streets, and to collect said tax. SECTION II. That the assessment list made by the City I Treasurer, as corrected, approved and completed by the Board of Equalization and Review of the property described in Section I of this ordinance in Lighting District No. 8-B of Salt Lake City, for the purpose of providing for the operation, maintenance and patrol-{ ling of arc lamps, is hereby confirmed, and the assessments made and returned in said completed lists, and the report of the Board I of Equalization and Review to the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City are hereby ratified, approved and confirmed. SECTION III. Said tax shall be payable in ten equal yearly installments as provided; by law and ordinance. In the event any installment is not paid on the day the same becomes due, the whole amount of the special tax Unpaid at the time said installment is due, shall become due and payable, and shall draw interest at the rate of twelve per cent per annum until the sale of the pro- perty assessed.
