AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 5413 of the Revised Ordi-
nances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, as amended by an ordinance
passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, on
July 31, 1946, relating to railroad locomotives.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 5413 of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, as amended by an ordinance passed
by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, on July 31,
1946, relating to railroad locomotives, be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"SEC. 5413. RAILROAD LOCOMOTIVES. No steam locomotive
shall be used for switching or terminal work or transfer work
within the limits of Salt Lake City, nor shall any coal burn-
ing steam locomotive enter, operate in or depart from Salt
Lake City under its own power unless the same is equipped
with approved type induction tubes or equivalent apparatus
for injecting overfired air into firebox and all such air
induction equipment shall be in constant use while operating
within the corporate limits of'Salt Lake City.
"Any company, person, or persons maintaining, managing,
controlling or directing the operation of any locomotive
entering or departing from Salt Lake City, that emits a
dense smoke as defined by Section 5417 of the Revised Ordi-
nances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, shall be guilty of
creating a nuisance."

SECTION 2. This ordinance shell take effect on January 1,
1948.
