An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property
within the district described as follows: From the center line of e.
Third South Street to the tenter line of South Temple Street, and
from the center line of Fourth West Street to the center line of
Eighth West Street; and on both sides of Somerby Street between
Fifth South and Sixth South Streets, in Sidewalk Districts Nos. 5,
20 and 21, for the construction of cement sidewalks.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah
SECTION 1. That the City Council does hereby levy the tax and
provide for the assessment of the same upon the property hereinafter
described in Lots 27 to 52, inclusive, Flock 1; Lots 1 to 10, in-
clusive, and 16 to 26, inclusive Block 2, Pitts' Subdivision, Block
23; Lots 2 and 7, Block 23; Lots 1 to 35, inclusive, Block 1; 1 to
15, inclusive, end 34 to 35, inclueive, Block 2,,Heath'a Subdivision
Block 39; Lots 1, and 6 to 16, inclusive, and 21 to 30, inclusive,
Block 2; Lots 1, and. 6 to 16, inclusive, and 20 to 28, inclusive,
Block 1, Franklin Subdivision, Block 46; Lots 1,2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and
8, Block 51; Lots 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, Block 38; Lots 1, 4, 5 and 8,
Block 47; Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, Block 50; Lots 1, 3, 4, 5,
6, 7 and 8, Block 48; Lots 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, Block 49, Plat "C";
Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, Block 63; Lots 1, 4, 5 and. 8, Block
64; Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, Block 81, Plat "A"; part of the
northeast quarter of Section 2, Township 1 we.t, Range 1 south, salt
Lake Base and Meridian, Salt I.aim City Survey, abutting on both
sides of Somerby Street between Fifth South and Sixth South Streets,
on both sides of Cannon Street between Seventh West and Eighth West
Streets, on both sides of Jeremy Street between South. Temple and
First South Streets, on the east side of Eirh.th West Street between
South Temple and Second South Streets, on both sides of Seventh West
Street between South Temple and Third South Streets, on both sides
of Sixth West Street between South Temple and Second South Streets,

on the west side of Fifth West Street between South. Temple and Sec-
ond South Streets, on the east side of Fifth. West Street between
South Temple and Third South Streets, on the west side of Fourth
West Street between South Temple and Third South Streets, on the
south side of South Temple Street between Fourth West and Eighth
West Streets, on the south side of Second South Street between Sixth
West and. Seventh West Streets, and on the north side of Third South
Street between Fourth West and Eiehth West Streets, in Sidewalk Dis-
tricts Nos. 5, 20 and 21, said property having a frontage of
22,696.2 feet along said streets.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of constructing cement
sidewalks six (4) feet wide and four (4) inches thick on all wide
streets, and cement sidewalks four (4) feet wide and four (4) in-
ches thick on all nerrow streets in said district opposite the prop-
erty hereinafter described to be especially affected and benefited
by said improvement, and it is hereby adjudged, determined and es-
tablished that the same will be especially benefited thereby to the
full amount of the tax hereby levied, and enid parcels of land are
hereby assessed at an equal and uniform rate in accordance with the
linear foot frontage upon slid portions of said streets fronting;
upon and to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back t'serefrom, and the
tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon said. parcels of land is
twenty-*ns thousand six hundred forty-eight and. 40/100 021,648.40)
dollars; seventeen thousand four hundred fifty-seven and 20/100
017,457.20) dollars, or one 01.00) dollar per front or linear foot
of abutting property on said wide streets, there being 17,457.2 feet
of abutting property on said wide streets, and four thousand one
hundred ninety-one and 20/100 ( ;4,191.20) dollars, or 80/100 00.80)
dollars per front or linear foot of abutting property or said nar-
row streets, there being 5,239 feet of abutting property on said
narrow streets, which is the esti;u,ted total cost and estielated cost

per linear foot of said sidewalks, and the Treasurer is hereby au-
tA.orized and directed to assess in accordance with the provisions of
'this ordinance for the purpose herein mentioned:
Four Foot Sidewalks.
Fronting on Somerby Street:
Al]. of Lots 27 to 52, inclusive, Block 1; all of Lots 1 to 10,
inclusive, and 16 to 26, inclusive, Block 2, Pitts' Subdivision,
Block 23; the north 50 feet of Lot 2, asd the south 60 feet of Lot
7, Block 23, Plot "C".
Fronting on Cannon Street:
All of Lots 16 to 30, inclusive, Block .; all of Lots 1 to 15,
inclusive, Block 2, Hoath's Subdivision, Block 39, Plat "C".
Fronting on Jeremy Street:
All of Lots 1, and 21 to 30, inclusive, Block 2; all of Lots 6
to 15, inclusive, Block 1, Franklin Subdivision, Block 46; all of
Lots 2, 3, 6 and 7, Block 51, Plat "C".
Six Foot Sidewalks.
Fronting on Eighth West Street:
All of Lots 6 to 16, inclusive, Block 2, Franklin Subdivision,
Block 46; all of Lots 4 and 5, Block 51, Plat "C".
Fronting on Seventh West Street:
All of Lots 1, and 30 to 35, inclusive, Block 1; all of Lots 1,
and 30 to 35, inclusive, Block 2, Heath's Subdivision, Block 39; all
of Lots 1, and 20 to 28, inclusive, Block 1, Franklin Subdivision,
Block 46; all of Lots 1 and 8, Block 51; all of Lots 2, 3, 4 and 5,

Range 1 south, Salt Lake Base and Meridian.

Block 39; all of Lots 1 and 2, Block 33, Plat "C"; part of toe
northeast quarter of Section 2, Township 1 west, Rinfle 1 south, Salt
Lake Rase and Meridian; all. of Lots 1 and 2, Block 63, Plat "A",
Salt Lake City Survey, as the same are shown upon the official plats
of said. City to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back from said /
streets, and to collect said tax.
SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in six (6)
equal installments, as follows, to-'sit: One-sixth thereof shall be-
come and be delinquent one month after the approval of this ordi-
nance; one-sixth thereof in one year after such approval; one-sixth
thereof in two years after such approval; one-sixth thereof in three
years after such approval; one-sixth thereof in four years after
such. approval; and one-sixth thereof in five years aft..r such appro-

val. Each and every installment of said tnx except the first, shall
draw interest at the zate of six per cent per annum from date of
levy until delinquent, and each and every installment of said tax
shall bear interest at the;, rate of eight per cent per annum from and
after its date of delinquency.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
