AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Section 25-10-2 and Section 33-3-3 of
the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to
automobile expenses for non-elected officers and employees.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 25-10-2 of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to automobile expenses
for non-elected officers and employees, be, and the same hereby
is, amended as follows:
Sec. 25-10-2. Automobile expenses for other officers and
employees. All officers and employees except members of the
Board of Commissioners and the City Auditor who are author-
ized to use and who do use privately-owned automobiles for
official city business shall be reimbursed for their operat-
ing expenses of said automobiles at the rate of seventeen
cents per mile for each mile actually traveled in official
city business, except for meter readers in the Department of
Public Utilities who shall receive an automobile allowance of
thirty dollars per month for meter readers whose routes lie
within a five (5) mile radius of the Water Department offices
at 1530 South West Temple, and to forty dollars per month for
meter readers whose routes lie outside said five (5) mile
radius more than fifty percent of the time during the
month. Before payment is made to any officer or employee
pursuant to the terms of this section, the use of the automo-
biles must be authorized and the mileage traveled must be
verified by the head of the department involved on forms and
under City-wide guidelines established by the City Auditor.
SECTION 2. That Section 33-3-3 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to automobile expenses for
officers and employees, be, and the same hereby is, amended as
follows:
Sec. 33-3-3. Mileage Allowance. Officers and employees
of the city may be reimbursed for authorized use of personal
vehicles on city business under the rates and restrictions of
Chapter 10, Title 25 of these ordinances.
SECTION 3. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of
Salt Lake City, it is necessary to the peace, health and welfare

of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become
effective immediately.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah, this 9th day of May , 1979.
