An ordinance amending Sections 1226 and 1227 of Chapter 56
of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City of 1913, relating to
streets and irrigation; and Section 1228x of said chapter as
passed by the Board of Commissioners August 9, 1916.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Sections 1226 and 1227 of Chapter 56 of
the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City of 1913, relating to
streets and irrigation, and Section 1228x of said chapter as
passed by the Board of Commissioners August 9, 1916, be, and the
same are hereby amended so as to read as follows:
SUPERVISOR OF STREETS AND IRRIGATION.
SECTION 1226. ikkitifitteitilitxxxitirtititialcxfottifixxtlater The
Board of Commissioners may appoint a competent person to
the office of Supervisor of Streets and Irrigation, who shall
receive a salary not to exceed `p2,700.00 per annum, payable
monthly.
The Supervisor of Streets and Irrigation shall, before
he enters upon the duties of his office, take and subscribe
the constitutional oath of office and execute a bond with
good and sufficient sureties to he approved by the Board of
Commissioners, payable to the City, in the penal sum of
$6,000.00, conditioned for the faithful performance of the

duties of his office, and the payment of all moneys received
by him as such officer, according to law and the ordinances
of the said City.
SECTION 1227. CHIEF CLERK. SALARY. OATH. BOND, ETC.
There is hereby created the office of chief clerk in the
department of streets and public improvements.
The Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
may appoint a competent person to the office of chief clerk
in the Department of Streets ta.nd Public Improvements, who
let
shall receive a salary of 41,620. per annum payable
a
monthly, and who shall perform such duties as may be pres-
cribed by the Board of Commissioners and the Commissioner
of Streets and Public Improvements.
The chief clerk in the Department of Streets and Public
Improvements shall, before entering upon the duties of his
office, subscribe the constitutional oath of office, and
give bond to Salt Lake City in the sum of 41,000.00, con-
ditioned as provided by law.
SECTION 1228x. The Board of Commissioners may appoint
an Assistant Supervisor of Streets and Irrigation at a
salary not to exceed 41,920.00 per annum, and such other
officers, clerks and employees as may be necessary for the
proper conduct of said Department, at such salaries as the
Board may determine.
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners
it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the City
that this ordinance become effective immediately.
