An ordinance amending Section 429, Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, 1913, relating to steam boilers and heating
apparatus for theatres.
Be it enacted by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Utah:
SECTION I. That Section 429, Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, 1913, relating to steam boilers and heating
apparatus for theatres be, and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
Section 429. Every steam boiler which may be
required for heating or other purposes shall be located
outside the building, and the space allotted to the same
shall be enclosed by walls of masonry on all sides, and
the floor and ceiling of such space shall be constructed
of fireproof material. All doorways in said walls shall
have standard fire doors. No floor register for heating
shall be permitted. Provided, however, in the case of
theatres in Class "1i" or Class "B" fireproof buildings
with a seating capacity of nine hundred or less, steam
boilers may be permitted in the basement when the
character, installation and method of operation of said
boilers is approved by the Inspector of Buildings,
Fire Chief, and representative of the Pacific Board of
Fire Underwriters, or a majority of them.

SECTION II. In the opinion of the Board cff, Commission?-
1era, it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the in-
habitants of Snit Lake City that this ordinance shall take effectt
immediately.
SECTION III. This ordinance shall tale effect immediately
upon publication.
