AN ORDINANCE LEVYING a tax and for the assessment of property in
Lighting District No. 6-E for the purpose of providing for the operation,
maintenance and patrolling of street lamps and the furnishing of electri-
cal energy therefor.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City does
hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same upon the
property hereinafter described in Lighting District No. 6-E,, for the pur-
pose of providing for the operation, maintenance and patrolling of street
lamps and the furnishing of electrical energy therefor, to-wit:
Lots 1 and B, Block 52; Lots 2 to 5 inclusive, Block 53; '
Lots 4 and 5, Block 56; Lots 1 and 6 to B inclusive,
Block 57; Lots 1 and $, Block 70; Lots 2 to 5 inclusive;
Block 71; Lots 4 and 5, Block 74, and Lots 1 and 6 to B
inclusive, Block 75; all in Plat "A", Salt Lake City •
Survey, abutting on both sides of State Street from South -
Temple to 4th South Street in Salt Lake City, Utah.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of providing for the opera-
tion and maintenance of street lighting on the streets above and herein-
after described; for patrolling said streets and for furnishing the
electrical energy to provide current for the illumination of the street
lights on said streets; for a period of ten (10) years from October 5, -
1954 to October 5, 1964; 100% lighting to be maintained from fifteen -
•
minutesbefbre dark until midnight; BB% of the cost of which will be paid _
by the abutters, the balance being paid by the city; 12% lighting to be _
all night
maintained on said streetsaflotxxxilixight, the entire cost of which will
be paid by the city (the cost of operation of the all night lamps being
Nine Thousand Three Hundred Seventy Two and 17/100 ($p9,372.17) Dollars) -
and the portions of said streets opposite the property hereinbefore and -
hereinafter described to be especially affected and benefited by said

improvement, and it is hereby adjudged, determined and established that
said property will be especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the
tax hereby levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal
and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon and to
the entire depth of the same ownership back therefrom not exceeding 330 •
feet, and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon said parcels of
land is Seventy One Thousand Two Hundred Twenty Eight and 44/100 (01,228.44)
Dollars or Thirteen and 899995/1000000 ( 13.899995) Dollars per front or
linear foot of abutting property, there being 5,124.35 feet abutting said
portion of said improvement and the cost of which operation, maintenance, .
patrolling and furnishing of electric energy and the property benefited
thereby is hereinafter set out, and all within the boundaries of the lots,
blocks and streets above mentioned in said district, which is the total
abutters' cost and cost per front foot of said improvement according to the
contract entered into for the performance of said work and making said
improvement with Utah Power and Light Company, dated September 21, 1954,
to
said levy/date and be effective from October 5, 1954, which is the date -
service began, and the City Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to
assess in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance, for the pur- •
pose herein mentioned:
FRONTING ON THE EAST SIDE OF STATE STREET
The north 294 ft. of Lot 5, the south 11 ft. of Lot 5, the north 25
ft. of Lot 4, the south 280 ft. of Lot 4, of Block 74; all of Lots 2, 3,
4 and 5 of Block 71; all of Lots 4 and 5 of Block 56; all of Lots 2, 3, 4
and 5 of Block 53; Plat "A", Salt Lake City Survey,
FRONTING ON THE WEST SIDE OF STATE STREET
A11 of lots 1, 6, 7 and 8 of Block 75; the north 177 ft. of Lot 8;
the south 113.35 ft. of Lot 8; all of Lot 1, Block 70; all of Lots 1, 6, •
7 and 8, Block 57; all of lot 8; the north 85 ft. of Lot 1; the south 4
179 ft. of Lot 1 of Block 52, all in Plat "A", Salt Lake City Survey; as
the same are shown upon the official plats of said city to the entire
depth of the same ownership back from said street not exceeding 330 feet,
and collect said tax.

SECTION 2. That the assessment list made by the City Treasurer,
as corrected, approved and completed by the Board of Equalization .
and Review of the property described in Section 1 of this ordinanc; .
in Lighting District No. 6-E of Salt Lake City for the purpose of
providing for the operation, maintenance and patrolling of street -
lamps and furnishing with electrical energy, is hereby confirmed,
and the assessments made and returned in said completed lists and 'he
report of the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City are hereby _
ratified, approved and confirmed.
SECTION 3. Said tax shall be payable in ten equal yearly in-
stallments, as provided by law and by ordinance, with interest on
the whole stun unpaid at the rate of five per cent per annum, pay- ,
able at the time each installment is due. The tax shall be due
as follows: one-tenth thereof fifteen days after the ordinance
levying the tax for the payment of the improvement becomes effec-
tive; one-tenth thereof in one year thereafter; one-tenth thereof
in two years thereafter; one-tenth thereof in three years there-
after; one-tenth thereof in four years thereafter; one-tenth
thereof in five years thereafter; one-tenth thereof in six years
thereafter; one-tenth thereof in seven years thereafter; one tenth
thereof in eight years thereafter; one-tenth thereof in nine years
thereafter; provided, however, that one or more of such install- ,
finents in the order payable, or the whole tax may be paid without
interest within fifteen (15) days from the date this ordinance
becomes effective. One or more installments in the order in which
;they are payable, or the whole special tax, may be paid after said
fifteen days and before the first installment becomes due by paying
the same with interest from the date of levy to the date such first
installment is due. One or more installments in the order in which,
they are payable, or the whole special tax, may be paid on the date
any installment becomes due by paying the amount thereof and in-
terest to the date of payment.
Default in the payment of any such installment of principal
when due shall cause the whole of the unpaid principal to become ,
due and payable immediately, and the whole amount of the unpaid

principal shall thereafter draw interest at therrate of ten per •
cent per annum until paid, but at any time prior to the date of
sale or foreclosure the owner may pay the amount of all unpaid
installments past due, with interest at the rate of ten per cent '
per annum to date of payment on the delinquent installments, and
all accrued costs, and shall thereupon be restored to the right
thereafter to pay in installments in the. same manner as if default-
had not occurred.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect one day after
arts first publication.
