An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property
in the territory between Third South and Ninth South, and Ninth East
and Thirteenth East Streets, in Paving Distriet No. 27, for the
purpose of providing for the grading, curbing and guttering thereof,
and constructing drainage system therein.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City
does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same
upon the property hereinafter described in Paving District No. 27,
for the purpose of providing for the grading, ourbing and guttering
thereof, and constructing drainage system therein, to-wit:
In Lots 6 and 9, Block 12; 6 and 9, Block 13, Fremont Heights
Subdivision, Block 1; 22 and 23, Block 8; 23 and 24, Block 9;
Arlington Heights Subdivision, Block 6; 26 and 27, Block 10; 26 to
52, inolusive, Bleak 11, Arlington Heights Subdivision, Bleak 7; 4
and 6, Block 9; 1, 2 and 6, Blook 10; 2 to 5, inolusive, Block 8;
1, 2, 3 and 4, Block 11, all in Plat "P°, Salt Lake City Survey,
abutting on the east side of Thirteenth East Street between Sixth
South and Ninth South Streets; on the west side of Thirteenth East
Street between Sixth South and Eighth South Streets; and on both
sides of Seventh South Street between Eleventh East and Thirteenth
East Streets.

This tax is levied to defray the expense of griding, ourbing
and guttering with Dement, and oonstrueting drainage system of
cement, vitrified, corrugated and wrought iron pipe from six (6)
inches to twenty-four (24) inches in diameter, upon the portions
of the streets opposite the property hereinbefore and hereinafter
described to be especially affected and benefited by said improve
ment, and it is hereby adjudged, determined and established that
said property will be especially benefited thereby to the full
amount of the tax hereby levied, and said parcels of land are
hereby assessed at an equal and uniform rate in accordance with
the linear foot frontage upon said portions of said streets front
ing upon and to a depth of twenty-five (26) feet back therefro*,
and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon said parcels of
land is thirteen thousand sixty-seven and 31/100 (413,067.31)
dollars; twenty-five hundred fifty-four and 50/100 ($2554.50)
dollars, or two and 62/100 ($2.62) dollars per front or linear
foot of abutting property for sixty (60) foot roadway (with singl.
track), there being 975 feet abutting said portion of said improv--
ment; and ten thousand five hundred twelve and 81/100 ($10,512.81
dollars, or two and 47/100 (42.47) dollars per front or linear
foot of abutting property for sixty foot roadway (with double
traok), there being 4256.20 feet abutting said portion of said
improvement, all within the boundaries of the lots, blocks and
streets above mentioned in said district, which is the total cost
and cost per front foot of said improvement, according to the
contract entered into for the performance of said work and making
said improvement, with H. G. Gilkerson, Contractor, dated the 20t•
day of May, 1914, and the Treasurer is hereby authorized and
directed to assess, in accordance with the provisions of this
ordinance, for the purpose herein mentioned:

Sixty Foot Roadway (With Single Track)
The west side of Lots 4 and 5, Block 9; the east side of the
north 150 feet of Lot 6, the east side of Lot 1, Block 10, all in
Plat "F", Salt Lake City Survey.
Sixty Foot Roadway (With Double Track)
The west aide of the east 24.1 feet of Lots 6 and 9, Block
13; the west side of the east 24.1 feet of Lots 6 and 9, Blook 12,
Fremont Heights Subdivision, Block 1; the north side of Lots 22
and 23, Block 8; the north side of Lots 23 and 24, Block 9,
Arlington Heights Subdivision, Block 6; the north side of Lots 26
and 27, Block 10; the north side of Lots 26 and 27, the east side
of Lots 27 to 52, inclusive, Block 11, Arlington Heights Subdivi-
sion, Block 7; the west side of Lots 2 to 5, inclusive, Block 8;
the south side of Lots 1 and 2, Block 10; the south side of Lot 1
the south side of the east 132 feet of Lot 2, the south side of
the west 132 feet of Lot 3, the south side of the west 150 feet o
Lot 4, Block 11, all in Plat ^F*, Salt Lake City Survey, as the
same are shown upon the official plats of said City to a depth of
twenty-five (25) feet back from said streets, and to oolleot said
tax.
SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in five
equal yearly installments, with interest on the whole sum unpaid
at the rate of six per cent per annum, payable at the time each
installment is due, to-wit: One-fifth thereof one year after the
ordinance confirming the levy of the tax for the payment for such
improvement becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in two years
after said ordinance becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in thre
years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-fifth thereof i
four years after said ordinance becomes effective; and one-fifth
thereof in five years after said ordinance becomes effective. On
or more of said installments, in the order in which they are pay-

able, or the whole special tax, may be paid at any time within
thirty days after the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax
becomes effective, without interest. In the event of any install-
ment or the interest aforesaid not being paid on the date the same
becomes due, the whole amount of the speoial tax unpaid at the
time said installment and interest are due, shall become due and
payable, and shall draw interest at the rate of eight per oent pe
annum until the sale of the property assessed; provided, one or
more installments, in the order in which they are payable, or the
whole special tax unpaid, may be paid on the day any installment
becomes due, by paying the amount thereof and interest to said
date.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect one day after
its first publication.
