An ordinance amending Section 1215 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City of 1913, relating to street
numbers of houses.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 1215 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City of 1913, relating to street num-
bers of houses, be and the same is hereby amended so as to
read as follows:
SECTION 1215. NUMBERS FOR HOUSES. It shall
be unlawful for any person to erect a house or build-
ing on any street, lane or alley within the limits of
Salt Lake City and occupy the same or permit the same
to be occupied, or to occupy or permit to be occupied
for ten (10) days any house or building situated as
aforesaid which has no street number or which has an
incorrect street number, after notice from the City
Engineer to apply for a correct street number, with-
out first applying to the City Engineer for the cor-
rect street number for such house or building and pay-
ing said officer the sum hereafter mentioned for a cer-
tificate thereof, or ' ithin thirty (SO) days after such
number is obtained from said officer to fail to cause

a painted, carved or cast duplicate of such number
to be placed in a conspicuous position upon the
front of such house or building, in a permanent and
durable manner; upon such application being made to
such officer he shall issue a certificate giving the
correct street number for said house or building, for
w hich he shall charge and receive the sum of tnenty-
five cents.
It shall be unlawful for any person to numw
h er any house or building in any manner other than that
prescribed in this chapter, and it shall be unlawful
for any block or row of houses to be hereafter desig-
nated. by a distinct numbering of the houses situated
therein, and it shall be the duty of the owners of all
such blocks or rows of houses now numbered in any man-
ner other than described in this chanter to immediate-
ly cause said numbers to conform to the provisions of
this chapter.
SECTION 2. All ordinances and resolutions, or
parts of ordinances and resolutions, in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
,SECTION 3. This ordinr.nce shall take effect
upon its publication. '
