AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Subsection (2) and the last paragraph of Section 24-1-2
'of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, as amended, relating to
the assignment of subordinate departments for the administration of the affairs
of Salt Lake City.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That subsection (2) and the last paragraph of Section 24-1-2 of
the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, as amended, relating to the
assignment of subordinate departments for the administration of the affairs of Salt
Lake City, be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 24-1-2. Subordinate departments classified * * *

"(2) Department of Public Affairs and Finance.
(a) Animal control
(b) City cemetery
(c) City court
(d) City recorder
(e) City treasurer
(f) Civil service
(g) Law department
(h) License department
(i) Parking meter collection
(j) Planning and zoning
(k) Purchasing agent

"The offices of the city auditor, and the fire department shall not be classi-
fied into any of the five statutory departments above, but shall be responsible
to the board of commissioners as a committee of the whole and shall be administered
by the city auditor and an appointed member of the board of commissioners,
respectively, subject to the control and direction of the board of commissioners."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City it
is necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City that
this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shalil take effect upon its first publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this 6th day
of July, 1972.
